Since I’m staying in Chow Kit, then I shouldn’t miss the chance to grab my breakfast here at this original chili pan mee place.
Open as early as 7am in the morning, yes I guess you would probably ask who will wake up so early for a bowl of pan mee that mixed with chili flakes.
But you did find people start coming in from 7am to have their breakfast here.
You should be familiar with this name, Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee gained some exposure few years back when they opened an outlet in Singapore along Macpherson Road.
Basically a bowl of tasty pan mee topped with lots of ingredients. Then you need to add as many chili flakes as you can bear with. I must warn you that it can get very spicy as you add more.
Every dry chili pan mee with accompanied by a bowl of hot soup that goes well with the noodle.
The chilli was spicy be sure to just add a dollop. The texture of the noodle was done aldente. Super value for money and tasty noodles when balanced with the awesome chilli.
Deep in the heart of downtown KL lies one of the city's most well-loved restaurants serving Chilli Pan Mee (RM8.50). Look forward to al dente noodles topped with minced pork, crispy anchovies and a gorgeous runny egg. What makes the dish is the spicy chilli paste – add a dollop and mix it all in for a flavour bomb. Note that they're only open during the day, so plan your meals accordingly!

I wasn't wowed by it per my expectations, but it was pretty comforting and marginally better than any chili pan mee I had in SG.

The dish depends heavily on the chili, undoubtedly — and it was fragrant and umami but perhaps overly so, as the saltiness slightly overpowered the rest of the flavours; maybe I needed a tad more moderation. Noodles were really well cooked though, perfectly springy and held the sauce and chili immaculately.

The chilli was so fragrant though it set my stomach on fire haha. The ikan bilis were crispy and the noodles were springy. It’s quite expensive for Malaysia though at about RM8 per bowl! But it was yummy 😋
Finally worth coming to the original now that the SG branch has shut down! I'm not a huge fan of pan mee or anchovies but I never say no to chilli in any form. I like the soup with beef balls and bean curd skin more than the noodles. Not busy when I visited around 1330h on a random Saturday. [Note: the chilli is not that spicy but kinda salty so don't overdo it]
