A great kaarage is always fragrantly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and light on the batter. This one was crispy, but didn’t have much flavour so I’m guessing that they didn’t marinate it sufficiently...
Looks like squid ink! But incredibly fragrant ramen with a perfect egg and nice chasiu. This is so good that it deserves to be better known. Just a little bit salty towards the end. But still, anything by the Teppei group is awesome! Plus it's affordable at $16 with all ingredients included. Do try the side dishes too!

First heard about it from Burpple, and the Teppei brand automatically suggests a level of expected value & quality to it. Like most restaurants in the CBD area, you can expect to find seats on a Saturday. I chose the miso option which comes with the thicker noodles. Tried the normal textured noodles as this was my first time, but I'll definitely return for the hard option. The servings are healthy and the 2 pieces of pork belly was too much for me to handle. The broth was good but I had better. There's a 50% off for everything on the food menu (except ramen, set menus & nabe) on Saturdays. Value for money like most Teppei concepts!
Taking over the defunct Ramen Bar Suzuki at Stanley Street is Ramen Dining Tamaranbai (by the folks behind Teppei), a homely concept serving Tonkotsu ramen and Osozai (Japanese side dishes). Any order of ramen entitles you to free flow steamed rice, salad and seven of these side dishes — including stewed meat, aubergines and steamed pumpkin. Come with your colleagues and order their Special Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen ($16.80), addictively spicy pork broth that comes with 2 pieces of charsiu and flavoured egg. Be sure to opt for the belly charsiu if you like it with more fats!
