📍PocoLoco (Upper Thomson)
- Calamari🦑
- Aglio Olio🍄
- Vongole Bianco🍝
- Flat White☕️
The pasta was al dente!
Would recommend the vongole, the clams were quite clean, white wine taste was also quite distinct, portion was good too~
As for the aglio olio, quite garlicky but lacking that spiciness to spice this dish up a little.
The calamari was a little rubbery, the batter was alright but the calamari tasted quite bland if without the sauce.
Lastly, a little disappointed by the flat white, expecting a barista kind of coffee but in fact, this was right from the machine, taste wise, this was okay…

Rich and Creamy Risotto served with Pan-fried Foie Gras. Their foie gras has a crisp on the exterior and medium-rare center. Ultimate comfort food. My personal favourite.

Tagliatelle Al Ragu d'Agnello @ $16.90
Homemade pasta with lamb in red wine & minced beef sauce.
Wanted to have risotto at first but can't resist the handmade pasta and I had to ask the server for his recommendation between the two and he went for the pasta with no hesitation at all.
It's good, the lamb was quite nicely done, there's a bit of the lamb smell but light enough to be ignored. The pasta can be a little bit more al dente but tastes good with the sauce.
Price is reasonable too.
A down to earth (including prices) cafe serving pretty legit Italian food. For appetiser I ordered the Foie Gras with Truffle sauce. The pan seared foie Gras melts in mouth, with the truffle sauce accentuating the taste of the Foie Gras.
For mains, I ordered the Tagliatelle with Hokkaido Uni and Nero Seafood Risotto. The tagliatelle was al dente and the Uni was fresh. The Nero risotto fully absorbed the flavour of the seafood broth and the squid ink. Heavenly.
I’ll be back to try their Pork Collar and Tenderloin from their grilled meat section.
Have you seen a PINK pasta before? Because I have not! The pink was natural colouring from beet root. So pretty right? Don't worry, there is no earthliness flavour at all! It taste like aglio olio that is not spicy and less garlic taste. In addition, it has no meat, making it vegetarian friendly.
Chicken tender were the parts used for this dish. I personally do not prefer this part of the chicken compared to the thigh. This is because it has very little fat percentage, causing the meat to be drier. However, the chicken was very well seasoned which compromises the drier texture. I love the masala wine sauce as well!
PocoLoco serves one of the best tiramisu in town! The cream is very light, not jelat at all even if you finish the dessert by yourself. Unlike the other tiramisu, their lady finger biscuits are dipped in coffee just before serving so it is still crunchy!
It was kinda sad not being able to have a nicely flowed out lava cake. I think I spent too much time taking photos of it before I cut it open, causing the batter to be cooked. Nonetheless, it still tasted very rich a sweet dessert to end the meal.
Cooked till medium rare, you can see the tenderloin is still mostly pink in the centre. The surface was cooked and firm to touch whereas the inside was still soft and juicy.
Unfortunately, I find the meat a lil chewy as I had a hard time breaking the muscle fiber down in my mouth. In addition, the portion might not be enough to satisfy people with a larger appetite. So if you're trying to fill your stomach, risotto or pasta might be a better option. If not, you can just order more dishes!
From base stock to tomato paste, everything was homemade! This soup is very flavoursome, with bits of garlic in it. My brother loves it a lot!
Yes, you don't have to squeeze any lemon on your oyster this time! It is topped with champagne vinegar which provides a cooling sensation in your mouth.
The bruschetta was baked 3 times in total. First they toast the focaccia, then with the tomatoes and lastly, with PocoLoco's homemade sauce. The focaccia served as a bed to collect all the flavourful juices that leaked out! Even though the tomatoes were baked, they were still very juicy. I was told that the focaccia was freshly made in-house! Definitely a plus point.
This delectable melon soup is unlike your usual hot savoury soup. It is served chilled, made with melon and vanilla ice-cream. A lil sweet treat before your meal!
You can see every grain of carnaroli so clearly! I can feel the bite in every mouth of risotto I ate. The mellow tomato taste complements well with the seafood too!
This tea is spoon-less! Because the packaging itself is a stirrer~ when you put the whole package inside the hot water, the tea will automatically diffuse out.
Custardy egg base, with a thin layer of crystallized sugar. One easy way to test if a creme brûlée is nicely prepared is to knock your spoon into the sugar layer. It should produce a crack sound!
The pasta which I will always order if I am going to Poco Loco. It never disappoints! I like the thick pasta and it goes well with the truffle mushroom sauce. The beef was also tender, don't need to chew too much and it is easy to digest.
$5.90 mushroom soup sound reasonable. I like taste as it is the not creamy type which are found very commonly in many restaurant. The aroma of the truffle oil is very strong as well.
