we visited after dinner time and a couple of their waffle flavours were sold out by then, really wanted to try the tiramisu one.
the waffles were sandwich between hazelnuts and i think nutella? we opted for ‘vanilla and brownies’ and ‘salted caramel pistachio’. the salted caramel pistachio was not bad as they had the whole pistachio mixed within the ice cream. salted caramel taste was not too salty. good contrast with the sweet waffles. vanilla and brownies was a pretty normal flavour
Induge Combo Set (grab) ($15)
Cookies & Cream ($1) Waffle w Chocolate Syrup, Matcha ice cream and Chamomile
I really like the cookies & cream mixture fillings inside the waffles and did saw some of the ice cream shop sell fillings such as mochi or chocolate inside the waffles. waffles quite soft and not that crispy as I use grab to delivery over from shop to office. Matcha ice cream was meh (barely matcha taste) like got quite milky and creamy aftertaste.
We were back at Oblong for a late-night sweet treat and this time, we decided to try out their cookies & cream waffle, which is really a chocolate waffle with cookies & cream filling in it! While the waffle itself did not have much of a taste (slightly disappointed), the cookies & cream gave the waffle a slight sweetness and crunch! We think it would be best not to get the dark chocolate sauce as the drip as it might be a little too heavy with the cookies & cream filling.
For the ice cream, we got the earl grey and pistachio flavours. The Earl grey flavour was rather decent, as we could taste the distinctive flavour of bergamot even though it wasn't too overpowering (which may not have gone well with the rest of the dessert). However, we thought the pistachio flavour could be a little stronger and more nutty, because we felt that the scoop was overly light. ☹️
Oblong is famous in the area for serving desserts until 1 am in the morning, although you may wish to note that the crowd gets exponentially larger later into the night! Hence, be prepared if you are planning to go at 12 am because you may not be able to make it into the shop.
Love the red velvet waffles along with butterscotch! The ice cream were average, we got teh tarik and earl grey and the scoops were abit smaller than average. The waffles were rlly amazing!
It's hard to resist their stuffed crispy waffles paired nicely with their not too sweet ice cream. We ordered their signature red velvet waffle stuffed with cream cheese, along with butterscotch pecan and charcoal mint ice cream. We found their ice creams a bit underwhelming by themselves as their flavours are less intense than that of other ice cream cafes. But anyway the limelight should be at their stuffed waffles. Will be back to try their other waffle flavours.
Love their red velvet waffles with cream cheese filling. Their nutella banana ice cream was good as well!!!
