($11.40) I think the tart sell on both outlet should have included pop-out store at ion orchard lvl 1 will be ending on this weekend (17 Dec) if you all r interested to visit. My friend was quite funny enough to mix and matcha with matcha chestnut cake colour aesthetic. The taste for tart was quite refreshing, light and sweet compared to the cake. The tart lean towards fruit and nut elements and flower garnish taste like grape? I enjoy their cake collaboration with guerlain and bringing it out by using fruit and nut elements to create unique cake.

($12.90) Finally tried their exclusive cake at jewel and I tried their signature cake at tras st b4 during 2021 ? before they removed matcha under signature cake. I really like their cake since I went first outlet. The texture for cake was quite smooth and creamy but the taste for matcha cake was slightly sweet and milky for top but at least was slightly bitter for bottom as chestnut taste was not that strong as I expected. The chestnut was really soft and chewy inside the cake but give off mild nutty taste. Their cake standard was getting high as compared to the couple years ago.

Nesuto should not be a name too unfamiliar with those whom have been following the happenings in the local F&B scene. Having first established in 2017, Nesuto is pretty much a spot that one would think about if one mentions about pretty entremets and dainty cakes in the Tanjong Pagar area. Located at Tras Street, Nesuto is a concept by the folks behind other F&B establishments that have since been defunct; these include Shuu Choux, Koki Tamagoyaki and handBELLO — Nesuto probably being the most successful concept of the lot. Nesuto had recently opened a new concept at the ground floor of Jewel Changi Airport, taking over the former premises of the now-defunct outlet of Orient Crown. The entire space is decked in a rather cave-like setting, with the shop space being distinctively separated into two different parts — the counter area is brightly-lit and features an earthy colour tone; the counter itself adopting a stone-esque aesthetic to bring in a bit of an element of nature into the design language of its interior set-up. As one goes past all of the display chillers for the cakes and makes payment, one would walk into the dine-in area that comes in a shade of crimson — a little more dimly-lit as compared to the counter area for an intimate feel. Much like Nesuto at Tras Street, Nesuto’s newest location at Jewel Changi Airport focuses much on their existing selection of sliced cakes and entremets; they also do retail some of the cookies and teas on the divider that separates the counter area and the dine-in area as well. Exclusive offerings for their Jewel Changi Airport outlet not available at Tras Street would include the chocolate pralines, as well as sliced cakes such as the Matcha Chestnut, Chocolate Orange and Whiskey Chocolate sliced cakes. For beverages, patrons can opt between espresso-based coffee pulled using beans roasted by Lavazza, as well as a range of coffee alternatives such as Chai / Kyo Uji Matcha Latte, a range of hot / house made cold-brew teas and kombucha for non-alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages are all listed in the “Pastry Chef’s Favourite”; includes a selection of wine and a Japanese sake to choose from.

After skimming through the entire range of cakes and entremets that Nesuto has to offer at Jewel Changi Airport, it seems that the Whiskey Chocolate Cake was the one that caught our attention the most. At the point of time where we were still making a decision on which cake to go for, we were unaware that the Whiskey Chocolate Cake is an exclusive offering at their Jewel Changi Airport outlet — that being said, we did find that the cake seemed rather unfamiliar and definitely not one which we had came across during our visit to their Tras Street outlet, nor seen on their social media accounts. There are little description cards being placed in front of the cakes that are sitting within the display chiller at the counter — the Whiskey Chocolate Cake is described to come with elements such as Chocolate Almond Sponge, Jivara Cinnamon Cremeux, Cacao Nib Chocolate Streusel and Orelys Whiskey Mousse. Basically, the cake seems to be layered with the whiskey mousse seated on the top-most layer, while one moves on to the Jivara Cinnamon Cremeux that comes with bits of the chocolate streusel infused into it — at the bottom would be the Chocolate Almond Sponge. Going through the entire slice of cake with all three layers in one forkful, the chocolate almond sponge was a touch more dense than an average sponge cake — still light, though its probably closer being a brownie with its deep and bittersweet notes from the chocolate. The Jivara Cinnamon Cremeux was like a chocolate mousse layer than helped to enhance the texture and flavours of the Chocolate Almond Sponge; there is a note of cinnamon spice amidst the chocolate mousse that wasn’t too sweet which helps to provide a creamy, smooth and luscious texture to the cake, bringing it together with the Orelys Whiskey Mousse that gives the cake a smooth and rich mouthfeel with an alcoholic kick. Despite the heavy-sounding elements, the Whiskey Chocolate Cake was actually a fairly easy eat. Prices of the cakes from Nesuto usually comes at a premium; the Whiskey Chocolate Cake being priced at $12.90 — the other sliced cakes are in the range of $11.20 to $11.90; still a spot worth considering for dessert considering the quality of the cakes here.
