I'm a fan of this chain. A lot of prices have gone up and these are the cheaper items.
Red Bean 🔴 Pancake ($1.20)
i saw that its last piece on the counter if not sure they will do doing new if sold out on the counter. so its not that bad and soft texture even though it turned cold for a long time. they filled a lot of red bean inside the pancake. i felt that it’s quite sweet and but its worth it to buy again.
Coconut 🥥 Pancake ($1.20)
i tried to try for second one but its quite also soft, moist texture for coconut bits. i think they mixed well with gula melaka sauce and filled coconut bits inside the pancake.
Peanut 🥜 Pancake ($1.20)
i tried to try for first one but its quite soft and didn’t turned harden even though went cold when i returned bck to home. its quite crispy and filled a lot of crushed peanut bits inside the pancake.
My favourite thing from Bengawan Solo.
One of my go-to kuehs.
Not sure why but Peanut Pancake or Mee Chiang Kueh, as it’s more commonly known as, feels like my childhood even though I don’t remember eating this often when I was young. I suppose that’s how eating this snack makes you feel, like a kid again!
It’s the perfect snack, dessert, or even as breakfast. This stall is always one I will visit when I’m at the Serangoon Gardens Market and it does not disappoint.
The pancake is crispy on the outside and has got that bouncy and slightly chewy texture on the inside. It’s really filled with peanuts as you can see from the picture so every mouthful has a good balance between peanut and pancake. I don’t usually like my sweet foods to have too much sugar so I do wish this was a little less sweet but I think for anyone else, the level of sweetness is just nice, not too sweet.
Fast moving queue.
Surprisingly quite good.
Have many other varieties of cakes
Yam Kueh ($1.30)
Ngl it's a lot more flour than the actual yam, but there'll definitely people who enjoy this fried traditional treat. It's still a decent Kueh I'd say, for the price I wouldn't really complain.
[Pancake King]
Butter Walnut Cake ($1.80)
Their butter walnut cake is quite fragrant, especially with the walnuts as additional flavour and crunch. Not bad a cake for its price too.
Banana Cake ($1.80)
The banana cake is really moist, with a decent banana flavour. Can try if you're nearby, but I wouldn't travel all the way there just for it.
Having recently open from its recent renovation (31 May 2021), Serangoon Garden Market is seen with snaking queues at almost every stall. Pancake King likewise is busy with orders, and although they are known for their Min Jiang Kueh, I decided to try out their other cakes instead.
Chocolate Delight Cake ($3.50)
Ngl this looked pretty rich and indulgent, but tastewise, it's just not my kind of fudgey chocolate cake. The chocolate used isn't dark chocolate, and the cake layer was slightly dry, with just a thin chocolate layer which doesn't really help provide chocolate richness as well.
Breakfast with 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 Min Jiang Kueh.Tried red bean , coconut and peanut flavours. All their Min Jiang Kueh has alot filling inside , one bite and all the filling came out so sastifying 💯😋😋👍I like the coconut flavours the most , great texture and moist that i keep on eating 🤗🥥🥥
