People might go Upper Thomson for cafe food, but chicken rice isn't that bad too! 😂 The roasted chicken ($15 for half chicken) and steamed chicken ($15 for half chicken) were tender and flavourful. I especially loved the roasted chicken, as the skin is actually crispy 😍 My friends loved the Mapo Tofu as well and it will make a great side to the chicken rice! Probably a good way to gain back the calories lost during the hike at Macritchie 😂
More flour than chicken. At least the batter was tasty and crsipy..
Tasty but chicken was overcooked and a bit dry. Not sure what draws people to this spot, might be the chilli which was pretty good, but rice and chicken were passable at best
This was yummy, done ma po tofu style but given the name, was expecting way more century egg than what's equivalent to a quarter of an egg...
Living in the area, I have seen way too many restaurants open, only to succumb to the Upper Thomson competition. This old-school establishment has withstood the test of time and fickle tastebuds to deliver solid zichar fare and chicken rice.
Old-school chicken rice restaurant; steamed chicken is the harder type (not those dunked in ice water after cooking to get the collagen, tender effect) but very flavorful, while the other zichar dishes deliver really well. Perfect for families/big groups.
