We are fans of Nakhon Thai's food but we really dislike waiting in line for up till an hour during peak dining times.

We happened to be there for a late lunch / early dinner and decided to try out something a little different from our usual pad thai and green curry.

Goong Ob Woon Sen or Thai prawn vermicelli is a classic Thai dish. Vermicelli (or glass noodles) and prawns are cooked together in a steel pot with a stock broth, and lots of sauces and aromatics such as ginger, garlic and pepper. This allows the noodles to soak up all the incredible and wonderful flavours from the broth, herbs and sauces.

There is only one right way to do this - slurp it all up at one go! Nakhon does their version well. They added sesame oil and basil to give the dish an additional nutty flavour. It's a tad on the oily side but it kinda makes slurping easier!

The establishment here is the original nakhon outlet before more franchise open up all around sg.

My go-to dish at all thai food establishment.

The basil pork here is quite ok, feels like too much basil leaf though, not enough minced meat.

Food here at nakhon is more affordable then other Thai restaurants.

i’m a loyal fan of nakhon since especially the holland v outlet (it was near school). try to avoid peak hours - it’s always crowded and the queue is 😔. the pad thai is $6 and the portion size is pretty decent! i always order the red thai milk tea ($3) but it’s a tad too sweet for me.

Or drunken noodles. I haven't been back at Nakhon for years as I find it overrated. Here I used mama noodles and it tasted a bit cheap. The portion also damn stingy. But overall it's authentic.

This dish is very good as a starter... The sour taste give you more appetite to enjoy more dishes.. Will definitely recommend this new dish.

I personally don't think it's WORTH QUEUING. Food wasn't that good. Kang kong tastes like water, the pork knuckles after waiting for like 40 minutes (we queued for like 40 mins. Then another 40 for the waiting) end up they told us that they ran out of knuckles. We ended up cancelling the rest of the food that hadn't come out as well. Definitely wont come back.
