By the folks behind The Refinery comes Miss Lok, a cheeky Asian hotpot and noodle bar located near Clark Quay. While the hotpots and sexy cocktails they serve in the night are tempting, it is more value for money to come on a weekday afternoon for their lunch bowls. The lunch menu offers five types of soup-based noodles (from $8.90), of which the blackened squid ink soup Black Laksa and wickedly spicy Ma La Mee Tai Mak are the clear standouts. Add $5 to complete your meal with a drink and a side dish — be sure to order the One Mouth Crab! These bite-sized soft shell crabs are fried to a perfect crisp — you won't be able to stop popping them into your mouth!

Haven't had the chance to try their night time loklok hotpot, but their $8.90/$9.90 weekday lunch noodle bowls are fairly diverting, with the insidiously numbing spicy red nymphet being Mamasan Lok's star courtesan.

Clockwise from top left: Sake Asari Clam Vermicelli, Black Laksa, Green Tea Soba Oden and MaLaMeeTaiMak.

Lunch sets at Miss Lok.

I would recommend the Black Laksa (rich and gives you black teeth 😐) and especially the Ma La Mee Tai Mak, which has a good numbing effect you would expect of a mala soup, but it does not overpower the sweet flavour of the broth.

Why not try out Miss Lok's newly launched lunch menu! If you are familiar with The Refinery's lunch deals, you can expect the same here but with a new set of menu!
Black Laksa ($9.90, +$5 for set - with 1 side + drink). This Laksa is really orh lu lu and my first teeth blackening experience. Though not so good for the overheated person, this squid-ink infused local dish wasn't half bad. Though don't expect the gao gao (thick) gravy but more of the soup version.

Miss Lok is by the same people behind The Refinery, infusing the sushi conveyor belt concept to loklok where the loklok sits in jars rotating around a conveyor belt. Each pax is entitled to one soup base, and the table can order meat platters to share or pick from the loklok on the conveyor belt. Alternatively, pick from the side dishes that is cooked in the kitchen. We pretty much liked the Kimchi, Tom Yum and the Oden soup bases for both the Kimchi and Tom Yum were spicy and replicated the intended flavours quite accurate with lots of ingredients within, while the Oden was flavourful but a little too salty. Settle for dessert, where they also serve things like Thai Mango Sticky Rice as well.
