A very old school breakfast located at Chinatown Complex, a copy from previous famous stall that has been closed down.

Only one item on the menu, I would say donā€™t put too much expectation to it. Taste a bit dry and you can choose either sweet or salty.

The Glutinous Rice comes in 2 variations, sweet or salty. We had ordered the mixed version that is not shown on the menu. I'm not a glutinous rice lover but the first bite had sold me away. It was savoury and definitely rich in flavours. It was addictive and I had mouth after mouth of it for both the sweet as well as the salty portion.

The fried shallots were charred and its oil elevated the taste of the sweet and salty glutinous rice. Not forgetting those plain peanuts that gave a distinctive texture among the bites. The peanuts were firm on the outside but soft on the inside. Though it's simple and made up of just Glutinous Rice, Peanuts and Fried Shallots, the processes in the kitchen may be tedious especially to get the glutinous rice at the perfect texture.

ā¤ļø Old school glutinous rice with stewed peanuts and fried shallots (S$2). Generous portion at this price šŸ˜‹.

They sell 2 variation, sweet or salty. It doesn't say on the menu board, but you can order it mix half sweet half salty. I prefer the salty version.

The soft peanuts and crispiness from the fried shallots compliments the sticky rice really well. I have eaten this many times. Best to go there early in the morning before it's sold out. Recommend šŸ‘.

The stall used to have chee cheong fun too, but itā€™s just glutinous rice now, with the choice of sweet or savoury. Really liked this! $2 gives you a pretty filling portion with a generous topping of crunchy fried shallots and peanuts. Itā€™s not the usual more heavily seasoned kind of glutinous rice. This was lighter, but well balanced and extra fragrant with the shallots. Rice texture was great too, not too mushy nor hard.

Basically to combine sweet and savoury rice as breakfast at one go is not commonly seen in Singapore breakfast. This is what I grew up with when I was staying in Chinatown and is not an easy dish to master with simply because the heat to control the cooking rice is just tough. Cook too longs ; the rice becomes marshy and too short ; the rice becomes tough n indigestible.

This is 2nd known stall which sells this breakfast where the former stall was known as Chinatown glutinous rice but was discontinued as owner has passed on.

This stall basically sell both savoury n sweet glutinous rice as options or combination. I will recommend the combination as it compliment each other where buying either flavour will be either too oily or too sweet. Basically start with $1 onwards for buying a pack.

Stall is already opened from 6.30am and they do sell the other breakfast well known to singaporean which is ēŒŖ肠ē²‰{rice flour noodle} common in local breakfast scene .

Do try it and support this fading food trade as it profit return is not high and requires Long hours of preparation before is gone.
