Synonymous to He Zhong Carrot Cake would be their crisp aromatic skin from the generous servings of perfectly browned egg holding the entire dish together. I liked how it wasn’t too greasy to taste, and also the liberal servings of preserved radish (菜脯/cai po) characteristic to carrot cakes.

Although I ordered "with chilli", I still felt it could still use some extra kick! 🦵

A >decent plate of chai tao kway which merits is easily justified by the long snaking queues during peak hours! 🤩

Omai omaiiiiii!!!!! Please take a moment to admire the beautifully browned top and the head-turning layers of crossiant-like skin. When the egg tart is first bitten into, you could hear so loudly the harmony of the crisp fragile skin. I loved how the bottom of the bottom of the egg tart is more firm due to the absorption of all the "ZHUP" which provides a pleasant textural contrast the layered skin. Taste wise, the exterior was extremely fragrant and buttery. 👍 The creamy and eggy taste was very well carried in the tart, with the right amount of sweet. Also, it wasn't too drenched while retaining the soft, luscious and *jiggle jiggle jiggle* texture.
🥚
I often find the egg tarts sold in commercial-chains too overwhelming in at least one of its different elements, savouriness, sweetness or greasiness. However, Qin De has perfected each of them to provide THE EGG TART with the golden ratio. The different characteristics of the egg tart was allowed to shine by itself without overshadowing each other, yet it blends in harmony to bring out the best flavours and texture. 😳

Important note: please eat after it cools down. Sis got scalded which proves how freshly served and hot it was. 🙂
Eat simi: Ashes Smash Cheese Burger Set (Single)

🍔
First impression: quite impressed. For only $5.90, Ashes has offered me a burger set transcending the standards of similarly-priced traditional fast food burgers! 😳 Evident in the generous servings of freshly fried and seasoned fries, they definitely do not scrimp on their portions. 🥺 The bread worked magic by absorbing the essence of the patty juices, while still maintaining an adequately firm bite. The molten cheese undoubtedly brought out the best of the flavours in the burger too!
🍔
Despite its merits, the beef patty which was the supposed main highlight wasn’t the most stellar though. It was tad overcooked, resulting in parched and tough meat lacking in its own flavours. Having a fluffier bread would also aid in the texture too!!
🍔
Surprisingly, Ashes seems to do well with the sides and supporting elements. For only $5.90, it would’ve been a solid burger go-to hotspot if the entire dish was executed better. 🙌

Fun fact: i have a whole album dedicated to all the mala i have eaten
🌶
As a mala connoisseur/regular/epicurean/gourmet, this failed to hit me in the mala feels. It was oddly sweet and as 中辣, it was barely spicy and lacked the mala flavour (香). The only flavour i got while eating (not savouring) this was this odd taste of sweet-savoury spiciness. It felt like it was just ingredients unevenly drenched with watery mala-flavoured sauce. 😕
🌶
Although i prefer my mala dry and spicy (some people may mala with more gravy), the fact that it failed to achieve the the basic elements of mala (spice, flavour, colour and mala satisfaction) just makes me really disappointed. :( Unlike the usual fluffly moist rice we are used to, it was rather dry. 🥲 I had high hopes for this famous pioneer of mala but alas, it failed to meet my expectations. 🥶
🌶
I don't see myself getting this again, also because i don't get to choose my serving of each ingredient. Nonetheless, if you are a person who somehow enjoys mala with a sweeter note and doesn't taste as spicy, this could be a good choice. 👍

First and most importantly, this is an ABSOLUTE value for the dollar. 🤑 Not only are you served a bowl of extra thicc and gao gula melaka with the sweet distinct smokey aroma. Precisely because it is that gao, less sugar could be a perfect option for you!! Also, I particularly enjoyed the mild sweetness of the adzuki beans and how the don’t turn hard after soaking inside the ice-cold dessert for sometime. 👍 The handmade green chendol worms with held no boundaries for their pandan aroma — sweet!😚👌
❄️
I wouldn’t mind their coconut can be stronger and thicker though, for the extra creaminess. But for that price, demanding more seems a bit unreasonable horh 😗
❄️
You need no ABSOLUT when you have this absolute bowl of chendol!! 😬 My go-to dessert for a 100C weather in Singapore; why you haven’t go try!!

This is the only second mookata brand i've tried because sis no friends to eat mookata with (no cry) BUTTTTT it's also because it is my go-to mookata due to it's affordable price and location!! 🤩 They are fairly generous with their ingredients considering the price paid too!! 😚 The menu has different kinds of marinated meats such as teriyaki, garlic and bbq chicken or pork. Interesting dishes includes smoked duck which my fellow reviewer complains it's too peppery for her liking but it's fine for me! The only gripe i have against the ingredients is that the bbq and teriyaki marinated meats tasted very similar that we can't differentiate between the two. It'd be better if it can be marinated with more flavour 👌 The soup also tasted average but gets increasingly better and robust when you simmer your ingredients 😋
🫕
DUHHH would come back again when restrictions are over and when i "SEE YOU AGAIN~~~" while uncles and aunties gather together over glasses of beers in hawker centre, we get drunk from meat infront of a mini campfire 🙂 TLDR: A great choice if you are on a
