Hawker Eats × Lor Mee 卤面 🍜
The thick, gooey, starchy and nicely flavoured braised sauce is well-balanced and savoury. Each bowl is accompanied by braised pork belly, fish fritters, fishcake, fried wanton, ngoh hiang and crispy fish skin. Remember to bite the fried fish skin first and not leave it soaking in the braised sauce for too long. Feel free to request more condiments such as chopped garlic, chilli padi, sambal belacan and black vinegar as it complements and brings the flavours of lor mee to another level 》$3 / Small
Lor mee served in thick and gooey braised gravy, paired with black vinegar, minced garlic and chilli. I ordered the large bowl to share, loaded with fish cake, char siew, braised pork belly, popcorn ngoh hiang balls and beansprouts. I noticed that, unlike the usual lor mee, the braised egg is missing here. The popcorn ngoh hiang was crispy but also hard like a stone and I find the gravy was a bit too heavy and starchy 》$5 / Large
The Ma Bo lor mee came with a deep-fried battered fish, braised pork, ngoh hiang, fish cake, half braised egg, thick yellow noodles and thick and gooey braised gravy that is made with various Chinese herbs. The battered fish was served piping hot that is crispy on the outside and tender inside. The noodles were springy and I like that the gravy to noodles ratio was good that it does not get too dry in between. The gravy was well braised with a perfect gooey consistency that was neither too thick nor watery. Topped it off with some chilli, vinegar and chopped garlic for more heat and enhanced flavour 》$2.50
Finally reached the other side of SG for this bowl of lor mee. As expected, the queue was rather long but fret not, it's moving fast.
Topped up $0.50 for fishes on top of the original lor mee. Comes with fried meat ball and sliced fish cake too. I like how the gravy is not heavy on starch - yummeh! 》$3.50

The recent cold weather is making me crave for a hot bowl of lor mee. They sell lor mee with different toppings like chicken chop, pork chop, shredded chicken or the usual lor mee with battered fish.
I ordered the normal lor mee with battered fish, half hard boiled egg and bean sprouts. I feel that it’s missing the ngoh hiang and flavour in the gravy. Not the best lor mee but it definitely helps to settle my cravings 》$3

I'm never a fan of lor mee so I'm not very sure how a good lor mee should taste. It was a 30mins queue during a weekday lunch hour and it's considered normal 😲
I like how the gravy is smooth, sweet and savoury. It comes with slices of braised pork, ngoh hiang, braised egg and fried snapper. The overall experience is good but I wouldn't queue more than 15 mins just for this 》$5
📍 Xin Mei Xiang Zheng Zong Lor Mee 新美香正宗卤面 | #01-116
My noodles are submerged in the rich gravy and it comes with meat ball, halved egg and deep fried fish coated with flour which is crispy on the outside and tender inside. This definitely added some crunch to the rich and starchy gravy. Chilli, coriander leaves, garlic and vinegar are placed outside for us to add how much we wanted 》$3
Their laksa were gone by lunch time when i’m there and the queue to this lor mee stall gets really long during the lunch hour. They usually closes by 3pm of when the lor mee sold out.
*Closed on Monday & Tuesday

I'm in a relationship with food. Why can't we just declare our never ending love and vows towards some food item? I'm sure that would not result in divorces.
