On My Radar - Non Hawker
This place is just *chef’s kiss* 👨🍳 the side dishes buffet offered free flow of eggs (tamago, scrambled, soft boiled, sunny side up), an extensive salad bar, potato salad, spaghetti, fruits and a damn unique coffee jelly!!! Of course, the main dish did not disappoint. Hamburg steak was so soft and juicy. Service also very friendly. Only good things to say about this place.
The thinly sliced aburi grade A4 wagyu 🥩 were really tender - so good when paired with the sencha-infused sukiyaki soup 🥣 thickened by the cured egg yolk 🍳. What a savoury treat!
.
Accompanied by perilla leaf tempura 🌿, bamboo shoot & shiitake mushroom 🍄, this certainly makes a wholesome & comforting dish!
My 2nd favourite side dish goes to their Tempura Jalapeno 🌟 ($9++), an indulgent treat with a crisp exterior, stuffed with creamy kombu cream cheese 🧀 & sour cream powder 🤍.
For all the westies who crave Italian and don’t wish to travel too far to dine, you can check out @ioosteriasg at HillV2!
Ft. Porchetta [S, $9]
We like their porchetta the most - the moisture and flavours were locked within the meat by an outer layer of crackling pork belly skin.
Large $18.
Taste like truffle mushroom soup stuffed in the bread.
The Japanese claypot rice is somewhat similar to our familiar Chinese-style claypot rice and the restaurant uses Japanese Nigata rice cooked in a premium dashi, made with aged katsuobushi and Hidaka konbu, with an assortment of ingredients.
We sampled three of them and my top recommendation will go to the Kinoko, which is surprisingly a vegetarian option made with four different kinds of mushrooms and the claypot comes with an onsen egg to give it an additional richness when mixed together and crispy seasoned seaweed for the umami-ness. The Iberiko Buta claypot comes with grilled iberico pork jowl paired with a smoked sausage tare and the x-factor of the dish, the crispy pork lard that gives it an aromatic touch. Last but not least, there is also the Shake which comes with poached salmon trout and topped with salmon skin, ikura and tobiko. Special mention goes to the Saba Age, a side dish of crispy mackerel fish with a spicy sesame sauce dip that will leave you wanting for more.

@nyverdensg first-of-its-kind to offer a customisable woodfired grilling experience!
Select your prime cut meat to be semi-cooked over 5 types of firewood – Jarrah, Hickory, Oak, Cherry, Applewood – which adds another dimension to the plate.
House signature Crab Tagliolini ($30) is a dish worth trying, though the pasta was molto al dente that day. Cooked in lobster broth for immense sweetness, generous crab meat chunks, it is topped with olive oil, rose petals and smoked ikura.
A hearty and VERY eggy bowl of oyakodon. Comes with 5 or 6 different types of eggs and chicken. Might be too eggy for some people but overall still a pretty good dish! Play points for the presentation too 👌🏻
Buenas noches! A trip to Barcelona as we dine in @tapas24sg the first Asian outpost of Barcelonian restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred @CarlesAbellanchef
For mains, we had the Paella de Gambas Al Ajillo, a hearty update to the classic garlic prawn dish (Gambas Al Ajillo) served with seasonal vegetables and mushrooms. Scoring a beautiful soccarat (crusty crispy base), the rich Spanish staple is umami-laden which we soon polished off.
And you can’t leave without having a tipple or two, especially when they serve variety of cavas, sangrias and Spanish wines.
With black truffles, Ibérico ham and oozy buffalo mozzarella squished between lightly crunchy toasted white bread, this is best eaten piping hot.
If you're a tamagoyaki fan, you'll adore this! The thick layers of egg were bursting with a strong dashi flavour balanced by a subtle sweetness that kept me wanting more. To level it up even further, the tamagoyaki was deep-fried with panko to provide some exciting variation to its texture.
Welcome back, @hambaobao, with your permanent house now at TRIO! The 2-week old, 30-seater casual eatery features their 5 original signature burgers, in an industrial-themed space decked with navy green furniture and flooring, as well as its nostalgic white wall tiles. Customers can either choose to dine at the bar counter or right beside the floor-to-ceiling windows, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the shophouses around.
I had only one thing in my mind as I bit into the crispy pork belly burger; the burger that I would die for. While we waited for about half an hour, I must say it was definitely worth it! Every single bite returned with constant crackling of the crispy roasted pork skin and I am really not exaggerating (because I took extra note 😂). This mini tower was fully packed with thick chunks of pork belly, Japanese cucumber, dressed in mustard and hoisin sauce. You know how generous they are with the meat when the cuts of pork belly almost dropped off every single time you try to adjust the burger to get a good photography angle. The choice of hoi sin sauce as a complementary dressing was perfect to enhance the Asian flavour, but what’s more brilliant was the touch of English mustard to cut oiliness and sweetness of the hoi sin which could get jelak. Buns were really pillowy and buttery, can’t ask for more.
We were pretty impressed by the golden brown hand-cut fries ($2.50) too, slightly thicker cut but fried till extremely crispy. The seasoning was tasty and I enjoyed them with the potato skin on.
Definitely a place to return for affordable Asian-flavoured burgers in a comfortable dining setting. The good news, you can now make reservation to avoid long queues. Hop over to their IG for more details! Available for takeaways too.
