MAPLE BACON, SMASHED AVO, SUNNY SIDE-UP, ROMAINE LETTUCE, ONIONS, TOMATOES, SMOKED GARLIC AIOLI & BALSAMICO
I liked the combi of ingredients, smashed avo was v creamy, romaine/onions/tomatoes acted as a fresh element to help cut through the heavier flavours of the bacon and fried egg. The maple bacon was thicc and meaty, totally different from the thin sad strips of bacon that I had expected. It was still piping hot when served! Definitely a very hearty and stuffffed bagel.
Found the bagel itself a little tough to chew, and it unfortunately got pretty soggy at the end, probably because of the aioli and balsamic and avo spread. Also it was a little senget, one half had too little bottom bagel so it got really messy, the other half had too much bottom bagel so it felt like too much bagel.
The mortabella is a Dec special and it comes with arugula walnut pesto, antipasto salad, mortadella & turkey ham, gin infused cherry jam, and provolone. This was my fav out of the 3!! It’s not a hot bagel option but this was still sooo good :’) The components were very nicely balanced, and I particularly enjoyed the pesto and cherry jam (which wasn’t very gin-ish but it tasted a bit like a aged balsamic to me, except it was more sweet than tart compared to balsamic). I also rly liked the choice of cheese, it was a hard cheese that wasn’t v sharp/salty but had a nice milky flavour. Definitely would wna have it again before December ends!
The avo baco was great too, with avo, bacon, smoked garlic aioli, tomatoes, hippie greens, and a sunny side up. Admittedly the bacon was not my favourite - was a bit dry, and they’re v generous with the meat so it also got a bit salty for me. But the rest of the components were great - the sauce was so tasty! Also rly enjoyed the greens for some reason 😛
The lox is the classic, but I wouldn’t have ordered it if I wasn’t sharing with my friends oops :x While it was still p decent bc the components were cold and q refreshing - smoked salmon (they r v generous and gave a mini mountain, smoked salmon lovers u will rejoice), scallion cream cheese, capers, onions, lemon juice, and tomatoes, it can get a bit one-dimensional. But the 4 of us shared 3 bagels, so it meant we got 1/4 bagel for each flavour, which we all agreed that 1/4 of the lox was the most optimal size for us; any portion bigger it would have been too cloying. We did think we could finish a whole mortabella ourselves tho 🤪
Anyway portion sizes are always huge here - we found that half is too little but a full bagel is too much. So the solution was to find 3 others to share with u, who can agree on 3 bagel flavours. Cut each bagel into quarters so each of you can enjoy 3 x 1/4 bagels. 3/4 bagels was indeed the optimal bagel portion for us, and we got to try 3 diff flavours too!
Got our hands on some TMBH today (I recalled having Nova Lox and BEC before and felt that they were not worth the hype then... but shall give it another try today 😋 the bagels smelled really good tho)
Personal Best: I didn’t know peanut butter and spam go so well tgt!!! WHAA the sweet savoury combination was superb :”) with the bits from the peanut butter spread on the crispy oat bagel which was right next to the ultra crispy and potato-ish hashbrown (I was so surprised that the hashbrown was still so crispy after an hour of ordering, my fav part!!) spam was really good too very thick and generous :-) egg was ok didnt value add to the bagel but overall good bagel!! Will get again.
King Kong: This felt more like a balanced wholesome meal, with healthy yummy thicc avocado and tomato. Nothing spectacular I feel about this, flavours are expected :)
The otah-ku bagel is an october special at their holland v outlet, and it consisted of barramundi otah otah, green scrambled eggs, banana blossom salad & percik sauce. It was alright, but nothing to shout about. I did like the green scrambled eggs - they scrambled egg whites with pandan juice (i think). I typically like eggs for the yolks, but I think tmbh does a pretty decent job at scrambling whites. The banana blossom salad was interesting.
Porchetta consisted of pork roast, stuffing, tomatillo relish and carolina mustard. The pork skin was crisp and crackly, and the pork roast wasn't too fatty - there was only one small part of fats, which is great as I generally don't enjoy the mushiness of meat fats. The lean parts weren't dry/salty! The stuffing tasted like sausage to me, and the relish kinda tasted like an apple slaw. Preferred this over the otah-ku, and while this was not bad, I don't think I'll reorder this as they have other flavours I enjoy better.
The brioche bun was soft and buttery; the beef patty had good char and was sufficiently juicy; the lean cuts of bacon provided textural variation. The habanero onion jam gave some heat and wasn't too spicy, with nicely caramelized onions. This was a pretty satisfying burger - I'm no burger connoisseur but this was one of the nicest i've had of late! A brioche bun is hard to beat, plus others that i've had recently were lacking in the onion department. This burger is their october special at the Tanjong Pagar outlet - get it before october ends :)
I had a small bite to try, and I realised I don’t rly like dill so I probably wouldn’t order this myself. My friend felt that this was too jelat at the end, so I guess it’s not something we’ll repurchase!
Have tried sausage fest previously, but I liked it better this time as it was more cheesy! I feel that 2 sausage patties are a bit much for me tho.
The K-Town Gim contained a generous serving of braised short plate, which was nicely charred at the sides, well-seasoned, and not tough. However, it didn’t gel well with the asian pickles & gochugata sauerkraut, which I thought could be more sour.
Flower Power contains broccoli falafel, tahini yogurt, red onions, cucumbers & tomatoes. Had this with a sesame bagel. The spices in the falafel gave good flavour, and the charred bits at the sides were extra nice. It was moist, with a minced texture (rather than a purée) that I liked!
Warthog contains smoked pork belly, red cabbage slaw & BBQ sauce. This is currently our favourite Novena option! The pork belly had the perfect ratio of lean meat to fat ratio, where the fatty portion wasn’t too much / surfeiting. The cabbage slaw was sour & crunchy, and together with the BBQ sauce, was a good accompaniment to the pork belly.

Maple sausage was juicy and but I found it a bit salty. I liked the combi of the sausage w sunny egg, cheddar (yay cheese!) & mustard. Sadly, the seeded bagel was a little off-form that day.

Didn’t think I was going to like the scrambled egg white, but it was surprisingly good: tasty and not dry. But I would definitely welcome yolks. Tomato relish was great! Tangy, savoury and sweet. The turkey sausage was moist, and I liked the choc chip bagel (but it got soggy from the relish). Think childhood choc bread but upgraded & in bagel form.

The Indian spiced grilled chicken was tender, well-seasoned and had smoky crisp ends, delicious. The achar was very spicy for me, but shiok! Blood yogurt was interesting, and gave a slight sour taste. Couldn’t rly taste the garlic in the bagel, probably bc of the spice.
It’s hard to choose, but my favourite out of the 3 might be chick-a-boom, which edges out the other 2 very slightly, as I prefer chicken over sausage patties :)
Got the feather on a sea salt bagel. It was decent but we felt that it was a bit too salty for our liking but the chicken was not dry, so plus points for that!
We chose a blueberry bagel for our schmear and I liked it! The mild blueberry taste, coupled with the cream cheese which was pretty light, was good :)
Tmbh was good & filling as usual. Fisherman consists of salmon, chive cream cheese, capers, tomatoes & red onions and the components complimented each other well.
Iris had avo, basil ricotta, tomatoes, lemon oil, sunny egg & chili flakes. Really liked the ricotta which was light & creamy! Also have confirmed that the sesame bagel is my fav thing here :)
We both agree that we liked lulamon & hawt cheeks (which we tried the previous time) more but nonetheless, fisherman & iris are still great options!
Lulamon was filled with cashew hummus, avo, onion, charred spiced cauliflower & lotus chips. This was multi-dimensional and interesting, everything came together really nicely. A shoutout to the lotus chips which provided a good crunch & some textural variation to the bagel :)
Hawt cheeks was filled with chicken thigh, chilli kewpie, salad greens & bacon. Was also a satisfying bagel but less interesting bc I feel like it’s a common combi? Chicken was tender and juicy, it was the star of the bagel.
Will be back for the other flavours!
