In the Mediterranean, the locals prefer masticating meat dishes with vigor and heartiness. True to Winestone’s claim of serving authentic Mediterranean cuisine, this steak has that coveted bite and chewiness that the Mediterraneans love. The steak is drenched in a savory and earthy mushroom sauce, and served on a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes. Though the steak is chewier than its Japanese counterparts (well known for its melt-in-the-mouth texture), it is still extremely fatty, juicy and full of flavor with a velvety texture. The sliced portobello emphasizes the meatiness of this dish, and the morsels of porcini mushrooms add a sweet and woody flavor dimension.

They have the best burgers in town! A late lunch today turned out to be a good thing as we managed to score tables without any queue. Portions are really large and the onion rings are huge! I did find the batter too thick for my liking. The burger was awesome and now I know where to go for my burger fix. I ordered the Old Fashion, thanks to Veronica’s advice. Loved it.
Thanks to Burpple's ongoing promotion with Half Pound that sees Half Pound's namesake burger being peddled alongside a nice cold pint of beer, I've discovered what is quite possibly the best burger in Singapore in my books. In fact, the Half Pound Burger was charged with being an absolute banger of a burger, and the jury (a.k.a. my tongue) has found the burger grilled-ty as charged. Geddit? Guilty, grilled-ty? Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week.
The ingredients list is already mouthwatering enough on its own. The 220 gram Angus beef patty is the headliner while the candied bacon, truffled gouda cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, and pickled daikon are the supporting acts. But the proof is in the burger, and I found proof that God loves us, as He has blessed us with the Half Pound Burger.
The burger is so delightfully thick that in order to fit the burger into your voracious maw, you have to make like a snake and dislocate your jaw just to get it in. But it's more than worth it, believe me. I think the burger cried out "pound me daddy" as I sank my teeth into the fluffy buns, and I couldn't help but gladly oblige. Before I knew it, I'd pounded down the beautiful behemoth of a burger.
Every bite of this sumptuous burger is a trip into paradise. The thick, juicy half pound burger patty was done to a marvelous medium, and the seasoning was simply smashing! The patty is perfect on its own, but why settle for mere perfection when you can attain nirvana? The candied bacon was glazed in a sticky coffee (I'm almost dead certain its coffee) syrup, and the insistent coffee taste mixed with the smokiness of the bacon complemented the heavy, savory flavors of the burger perfectly. The truffle in the buttery, nutty Gouda brought an enchanting earthiness, and the mild, melty Monterey Jack cheese gave the burger the sexy cheese strings.
The one thing that sets the Half Pound Burger apart from its competitors is the pickled daikon. It has a pleasant tanginess to it that is muted so as to not impose upon the rest of the burger, but the biggest boon it brought to the burger was its crunchiness. And that was what really stood out from the soft, curvy textures of the burger. The beautifully browned buns were toasted to perfection and pleasantly pillowy, but they understandably got a bit soggy from all the juices from the burger as I pounded it down into my stomach.
The sauce that's served separately is the final component that made this exquisite burger utterly unforgettable. Consisting of what I suspect is beef jus, among other ingredients, the yellow sauce wasn't heavy on flavor, but it was supremely rich. Buttery and charmingly creamy, this sauce was simply made to be bottled and sold to the discerning masses. It really is that excellent. It also makes for a pretty good condiment for the fantastic French fries on the side when it mingles with the juices from the burger.
Priced at $18+ on its own, this burger is stunningly stellar. Grab as many napkins as you can, because the juices are definitely gonna flow as you pound away with pleasure.

This main really surprised me. It was really good and it really hit a spot. I loved the caramelised onions, potatoes (which was worth every calorie) and mustard mash which accompanies it. That's the thing about @gaigsingapore. What may sound simple on the lunch menu will come out and knocks your socks off. Nothing like a dish that is well executed.
Sharing the space with Sugarhaus at Serene Centre (beside the popular Woodlands Sourdough), this 10-seater steakhouse offers a super simple menu of two steak mains, four sides and three desserts. The Shortribs ($25) have more marbling than the Flat Iron ($22), but both are seared till nice and pink in the middle, and tender to the bite. The meats come with chimichurri sauce and a garden salad, but for something more substantial, add on sides ($5 each) like the Sautéed Thyme Mushrooms and Creamed Kale. Interestingly, Burpple Tastemakers Xing Wei Chua and Casey Tan both enjoyed the meat sans sauce, and just with a sprinkle of salt. Based on Burpple community reviews, you may be better off skipping dessert for now. Currently trending on social media, Jade ($10) features a pretty dome of pistachio mousse cake with a strawberry jelly centre, but while it makes a stunning picture, it leaves much to be desired in terms of taste.
Avg Price: $30 per person

Love the marbling on this!
We finished this beef short rib steak (200gms at $25++) so quickly, we had to get a second order 🤷🏻♂️ what can I say? IT WAS GOOD. Short rib has more delicate marbling, so there's a better meld of the meaty flavour with the smoothness of the fats.
I do like that they did the beef with without much seasoning, just letting the meat do the talking 😊
Thanks to the good people at Sugarhaus for their hospitality, and to Ivy for hosting this one!

12 ounce ribeye. An outstanding example of USDA Prime at its best. Well marbled for peak flavour, deliciously juicy. Broiled at exactly 980 degrees Celsius to lock in the flavour. Then served on 260 degrees delicious plate so that it stays hot throughout your meal. Served sizzling in butter, sound of it is music to your ears!
As its name suggests, this Italian steakhouse specialises in Florentine steak. The signature Tuscan Bistecca alla Fiorentina ($178, steak Florentine) weighs a whopping 1.1kg and can easily feed three to four. After a simple marination in olive oil and an herby salt rub, the thick slab of bone-in Australian F1 Wagyu is cooked over a high temperature wood-fired grill resulting in a charred crust to seal in all the juicy, beefy goodness. With a marbling score of 6+, the fat to meat ratio is spot on for an epic thick cut steak experience.
Perfection.
W Singapore's SKIRT has a new menu which includes a few signatures from the last menu as well as a brand new dishes to excite our tastebuds.
Upon entering the restaurant, one can't ignore the centrepiece of the restaurant, their signature Parilla grill. With it, chefs grill prime cuts of meat to divine perfection.
I absolutely fell in love with the 30-Day Dry Aged Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Tomahawk steak. The dry ageing process helps to break down the collagen and muscle fibres in the steak to make it so much more tender. Also, the moisture is removed hence the meat is not bloody and the flavour is more concentrated.
Is it worth the price? I say "hell yeah". #burpproved
Since 2003, it has provided both members and non-members of the Singapore Maritime Officers’ Union a place to socialise and unwind. ☺ If you want to enjoy fresh and tasty seafood in a good ambience, this is a place to check out! 👍🏻 .
.
Worth a mention that we didn't wait long before our table of feast was being dished out from the kitchen. The super serving speed did not compromise on the taste of the food at all!😋👍🏻 .
If you're around the area for lunch today, they have a value-for-money lunch deal as well. 💰👍🏻 1 main course + 1 drink is going at $19.90 net! 🌟🌟🌟
Ps: the portion is huge, good for sharing even!
These two dishes are a must-order from this stall. After hearing my dad constantly rave about how good it is, I now believe him! The braised meat is tender and lean, definitely something different from the usual roasted duck at hawker stalls! And as for the soup, it has a good balance of sourness and pepper! Not too salty, which is the main criteria for me - I can hardly stomach salted veg soups that are too salty. But this was just right. TAKE MY MONEY.
Sweet fresh Mussels! If the garlic cream could be thicker, it will be perfect for me!
