Extremely value for money, Don Maru has over 60 options of donburi 🍱 [including our favorite chirashi!] available daily. This bara chirashi is laden with fresh chunks of sashimi, at an unimaginable price of ¥540. Oh yes, did we mention that all of their 60 options are ¥540 too?

Grand Hyatt's ice cream burger [exclusively available for the month of July] is a full-on dessert burger – complete with sweet cinnamon pie crust "fries" and a dipping "sauce" of raspberry jam.
Sandwiched between the chocolate-coated brioche bun is a raspberry ice cream "patty" that sits atop fresh raspberries, strawberries, and a delicious layer of custard. We wiped the plate clean.

Throwback to this healthy pad thai we had at the Earth Garden Festival. Probably the oddest we've ever had, this bore no resemblance to the real deal – steamed chicken breast, rice noodles, ebi sakura, bean sprouts and spring onion a la Vietnamese. No spices, no tamarind, no peanuts. That's not to say that it's bad, but whatever it is, is definitely not authentic pad thai. #GourmetAdventuresInTokyo
An hour away from Tokyo for the freshest sashimi and seafood, this gorgeous platter of hamachi, aji, tai, tako, katsuo and aji was the best way to end a beach day – alongside sumo wrestling, ice cold Asahis and lots of laughs.
Incredibly fresh [we are quite literally next to the sea], this katsuo is beautifully crisp and delicious! Wish we took a close up to show you how good it is. The best way to celebrate Sea Day.

We're fast approaching summer and it's a sweltering 32° today – no better time for cold noodles! Quick stop for lunch: hiyashi tokusei yoshi soba that's specially chilled. Love the combination of these chewy buckwheat soba noodles, seaweed and crunchy tempura bits. おいいし!🍱 #GourmetAdventuresInTokyo
Following the success of its first outlet at Meiji-Jingu Gaien, American burger chain @shakeshack launched is second outlet in Tokyo at Ebisu Atre West early this month. Queues here aren't half as long as it was at Meiji-Jingu Gaien when it first launched – perhaps not many know of it yet?
Set at the lobby of the new Atre Ebisu Nishikan mall, @shakeshackjpn's design and vibe differs from the original outlet in NYC. We much prefer its first outlet at Meiji-Jingu Gaien where you get a closer feel to the authentic Shake Shack Madison Square Park vibe.
Most of the menu in Tokyo mirrors that of NYC, alongside additional desserts, exclusive to its Tokyo outlets [note: each outlet has its own exclusive creations]. We, however, found them a tad too sweet for our liking. But the burgers are on point – as good as the original NYC outlet.

My word. The beef tongue is beautifully grilled, so that its tenacity warrants just the right amount of chew. Pork belly accompanies it, just shy of wholly done, as if beef tongue alone doesn't suffice an everyday lunch. There is even an option to introduce chicken to mix – at which point we feel they're trying to induce a food coma.
Buried under the meats; the thinnest of cabbage strips, and under that, a bed of Japanese rice, anointed in shio and lemon (of course, there is miso on the side).

Our first meal in Tokyo – ochazuke! A simple Japanese meal consisting of green tea and dashi over cooked rice, topped with cubes of sake, maguro, tamago, anchovy and ikura in a hot stone bowl. Perfect for this rainy weather! #GourmetAdventuresInTokyo
