Last weekend, I stumbled upon a little bakery tucked inside @with_a_pinch_of_salt, a casual restaurant on Tanjong Katong Road. Occupying a small area near the front, @chefybakehouse isn’t actually new, but have been selling their handmade, freshly-baked and preservatives-free cookies from that spot for some time. There’s a sign outside welcoming people to do some sampling, so without hesitation, in I went.
After tasting a small assortment, I bought a few jars of the “Butter Coffee” and Chefybakehouse’s bestseller, the “Almond”. Both turned out to be really good for different reasons.
The “Butter Coffee” has a light crunchiness that transitions into a lovely melt-in-the-mouth texture while the fragrant “Almond” boasts a savoury tinge and firmer crunch. After I’d shared the cookies with her at work the next day, @rainraineeataway said that the former reminded her very much of the popular Hong Kong brand - “Jenny Bakery”. I couldn’t agree more.
Was attracted by the smell of fresh bakes and short queue of about 15 mins! Not sure if it was the timing or the hype has died down but either way, glad I finally got to try it.
Prefer the cheese for that savoury layer as opposed to the original (which had an eggier taste but was more fluffy). Quite enjoyable and it may seem pricey but well, the portion is huge. I'll probably get it every once in awhile when I don't have to queue😌
Had the pleasure of visiting this one-week old #cafe and was wowed by the quality of their desserts!

One of my favourites was their signature "Le Omm", a Matcha soufflé sponge cake layered with Mascarpone cheese spiked with a tinge of rum and Matcha powder. The cheese gave the cake a creamy mouthfeel and slight sweetness to balance out the natural bitterness of the Matcha. It was paired with the Oriental Green tea from @antea.social which complemented the underlying light bitter notes of the cake. It was a match made in heaven 😌

This was a tasting by @dear.nesuto. Thanks @theduckeats for the hospitality and @cweizhi for asking me along 🙆🏻 #burpple #matcha #cake #dessert
Made it down to Overrun, which offer local flavour soft serves like Chendol and Durian. Flavour of the week is Mango Sticky Rice, so gotta get them before Sunday! Icy coconut soft serve, sweet chunks of mango and purple sticky rice balls, good for the hot afternoon.
I just found my current favourite swiss rolls.
They are really delicious. The sponge is soft, cream is so smooth & light, and best of all, they are not overly sweet.
🔸
My personal favourite would be this Espresso flavour & the Earl Grey flavour. Love the orange segments inside the earl grey flavour. 😍😍😍
I actually finished both swiss rolls at one go without sharing them. 😌

The best kind of brownies — baked till a brittle, glossy veil forms atop the moist, almost gooey chocolatey goodness underneath. 👌🏼👌🏼
"A swiss-roll of honey infused green tea sponge and red bean cream, topped with strands of kyoto-uji green tea cream."
Ending the meal on a sweet note… that is in actual fact not that sweet, but rather a good balance of flavours.
Can't go wrong with feeding me coffee in any form. The slightly heavier texture sponge of this cake is made with coffee with aromatic kaya buttercream between the layers and covering the entire cake. Drizzles of coconut white chocolate create an eye catching display.
Eat the cake with the coconut and Gula Melaka crumbs on the plating for a little added texture!
My favourite part has to be the ice gems reminding me of toddler days where I used to bite off the icing and force everyone else to eat the biscuits for me.

One of the star highlights of Montana's revamped menu is definitely their new desserts range - Freak Cakes (5 different flavours to choose from)!
Although it 100% looks like it would be spoonfuls of sugar down our tummies, we were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't cloyingly sweet but more bittersweet. This freak cake here has a light matcha sponge paired with black sesame frosting, covered in smooth matcha buttercream and ended off with a pour of thick fragrant black sesame glaze. We really enjoyed the pairing of the flavours which reminded me a lot of their Black Velvet Waffle with Green Tea Ice Cream, also one of their hot favorite dessert. Though pricey, the portion's good to share with a few, thus it works out quite well. I'll surely be back to try the Caramel Cookie Butter! Other flavours are Red Velvet, Smoky Nutella and Coffee Kaya Coconut.
This freak cake tastes as good as it looks! Pillowy matcha sponge cake with matcha buttercream and black sesame frosting. With the black sesame powder base, the nuttiness dominates while the matcha lends a subtle bitterness. Good for 2-3 people to share!

Husk is a brand new frozen joint that can rival llaollao in terms of taste and freshness. If you love Thailand's coconut ice-cream, you will definitely love the subtle and distinct taste of this frozen coconut. Absolutely beautiful, and a work of art. HUSK uses fresh young Thai coconut to make that perfect swirl. If you are into it, and have then almost every week, you will definitely taste the slight difference in every froco (frozen coconut). As they uses only the freshest that is brought in weekly.
Great for the crazy Singapore weather, or a snack after your gym, or anytime you feel like it. Just cause this is so darn yummy.
