The smell of baked pastries
And freshly brewed coffee.

Twinkling fairy lights,
French lounge music playing softly in the background.

Thumbing through a magazine,
One that takes us places
That weāve never been before.

This is Sunday.

So glad that I managed to try the #shirogoma (white sesame) flavor from @matchayasg after missing it the last time! Iāve always been a fan of their intense goma (black sesame), but this was really something else altogether. A deeper, more pronounced flavor of the sesame, and that amazing grainy, yet creamy texture. This one sent me straight to heaven š

P.S. Shirogoma is only available at their pop-up at Taka B2! #burpple #xkmatchaya
They called it āBo-Jokā, a combination platter of #bossam (boiled pork belly slices) and #jokbal (braised pork trotters). Although the bossam looked less appealing but it was surprisingly tasty thanks to the spice blend that it was marinated in. Wrap it in a lettuce leaf with the two types of kimchi (the crunchy one is addictive!) and it provides that delicate balance to the meaty flavor. #burpple
Indeed, the food impressed and we enjoyed every dish! Would recommend the Duck Confit Tagliatelle ($22), Squid Ink Risotto ($26) and Herb Crusted Barramundi ($24). #burpple
āļø just about the best #blueberry #pancakes in sg, look at how thick and fluffy the stack is! #burpple
And who knew there could be so many variations of this simple dish. Loved the Hot Sukiyaki Soba ($18) that was bathed in a flavourful broth, served with sliced beef, shiitake mushrooms and livened up with a touch of yuzu. Also recommend the Dry Kamo Maze Soba ($16) which was slightly thicker soba noodles tossed in a Chinese-flavored sauce and topped with sliced duck meat and duck meat balls. The #onsenegg that came together with both dishes was just perfect - such a generous yolk that popped in our mouth as we bit into it! #burpple
I went there for their Afternoon Tea set though, and was wow-ed by the exquisite selection prepared for us. At $52++ per person, it's a tad on the high side, but the amount of thought put into the set was evident in the construction of each item. A tea pairing I would recommend is The ATLAS Art Deco Blend, a fine black tea incorporating dry gin botanicals, with added elderflower and yuzu. #burpple #afternoontea #hightea
Thanks to these add-ons, the small bowl ($11.90 for 75g #pokĆ©) was sufficient for me šš¼ #burpple #xuannyeatsclean
Never knew of this famous #yakitori place till today and it just amazed me with its value-for-money set lunch! For $13.80, you get 5 of their signature yakitori (quails eggs, chicken & leek, bacon-wrapped asparagus, meatballs and minced meat wrapped in shiso leaf) with rice, grilled mushrooms (which were so juicy and delicious btw) and minced meat on rice which kinda reminded me of Taiwanese å¤čé„. You even get a bowl of miso soup and an azuki red bean dessert on the side! Now if this is not the most affordable, filling and TASTY lunch, I don't know what is! #burpple #japanese #bento

The lavender had such an aromatic perfumy flavour, and I'm so happy that they have cones now! :) #burpple #matchayasg #lavender #softserve
