We had an amazing lunch at Le Bon Funk!
Dishes that we tried:
1) Maitake ice cream and birch syrup- heard from the staff that the ice cream is made of mushroom :0 Being the adventurous us we decided to have a go at it and boy it was surprisingly sweet (we were expecting it to taste savory). Definitely couldnt tell it was from mushroom. It was a pleasant surprise!
2) Cedar Jelly and Foie Gras Toast
Foie Gras taste wasnt too strong. Best eaten when served. Would definitely have it again when we are there!
3) Whole artichoke and Kombu Aioli
First time eating artichoke and there was even a cute drawing provided on how to eat it! Would recommend those who have not tried artichoke to give this dish a go.
4) Leek Ravoli
Their pasta never fails to disappoint. 2nd time here and the pasta still taste as good! 100% recommend!!
5) Chips, cauliflower and ikura
The dip is nice and this dish is good as well but pales in comparion to the others that we ate
These 5 dishes were sufficient for 3 ladies!
Another of my favourites with the generous amounts of tender thinly cut beef tongue paired with piquant gribiche sauce.
The lamb neck was satisfying cos it's huge slabs of it like lamb ribs basically, not just shredded. Tripe was bouncy too
But overall just a hearty and mild stew so not as satisfying as you would expect from the price. Plus kale never works, portion was quite big tho good to share between 2 if you're ordering something else
The leek wasn't strong enough, the pasta was abit too al dente but the texture worked in combination. The carrot sauce was very complex and the smokiness was great
But the price is absolutely ridiculous for a veg dish
This is very good. The burrata was extremely thick and creamy
The gremolata made w pumpkin seeds had a strong herbaceousness which wasn't overwhelming and added nice freshness to the burrata
A Portuguese egg tart-style flaky base instead of a usual pie base, good apple and nice streusel. The cheddar cream was very strongly cheesy, there's creme fraiche as well so it's sour, and overall it's almost entirely savoury on its own. But the strength pairs well with the apple pie, because otherwise it gets overwhelmed by apple pie.
It's good and not super adventurous but for 20bucks, it's really very expensive cos it's not so special after all
