Salted egg dumpling
Itās nicely salted and the flavour is completely even throughout :)
The pork is excellent, no weird meat smell and very nice mouth texture - the pork is very tasty!!
The egg yoke is not giving what itās meant to be giving but other than that ā
Nonya rice
Rice is nicely cooked through :)
The meat is sweet and well seasoned
Love the mouthfeel and there was no weird chucks of cartilage
Nonya Pulot Hitam
I wish there was more pulot Hitam but I am LOVING the texture of the mixed rices, itās great!
The meat is tasty and well seasoned - lovely mouthfeel
Iām sure many wouldāve been confused between Kim Choo Kueh Chang & Joo Chiat Kim Choo but Kim Choo Kueh Chang is the OGā¼ļø
Iāve always been getting my dumplings (Ba Zhang) from them!! Was super satisfied cause the Nonya Chang was still as mouthwateringly delicious as I remembered it to be!
Nonya Dumplings uses braised minced meat & is sweeter as candied winter melon strips are incorporated into the dumpling, making it a sweet and savoury rice dumpling!
These plump Nonya Chang from Kim Choo are super fragrant;)) Glad that the glutinous rice was throughly cooked, soft yet satisfyingly dense ; Encasing the generously packed & well-marinated pork. The addition of steamed bamboo leaves, made the Nonya Chang even more aromatic!
Nonya Chang has also always been Kim Chooās iconic š dumpling as well as the crowds favv!!!!

~ Nonya Chang (pork) $5 each
[Fun Fact: Staying true to heritage, Kim Choo Kueh Chang wraps all their Ba Zhang by hand!!!]
The real Kim Choo! Probably the best ba zhang I've eaten. It's proof what a bit more fatty cuts can do. There's loads of lean meat too, but I'm not a fan of that haha. The glutinous rice was also perfect, stickier than others yet breaking more easily than others.
Also known as Fa Gao åē³.
This are handmade, fluffy texture and naturally coloured.
Nostalgia feels.
This year my family is not making rice dumplingš¢ but glad to be able to try the famous Kim Choo Nyona Rice dumpling (pork) ($3.20). Rich in flavour, salty but just nice. The meat is fatty type but thatās how traditional rice dumpling should be. šš» thereās a salted egg version ($3.80)
Happy Duanwu Festival!! Once again, itās time to make our pilgrimage across town, hunting down the best and most traditional dumplings!š Kim Choo Kueh Chang was recommended by some friends who raved about their dedication to tradition, so we decided to head there! After perusing through their menu, we settled on the Salty Chang w/ egg and Salty Chang with chili prawn.
Glutinous rice was at the right consistency - neither too mushy nor too firm - and delightfully chewy, hiding bits and bobs like whole chestnuts and mushroom heads (alright fine, not as itty bitty as one would think)!! Though the chili prawn one lacked the characteristic āhebiā taste, it was still more savoury on the whole, with a marked spicy undertone. My final verdict? Their offerings truly live up to expectations, especially if youāre looking for an authentic homemade taste! š
