Was looking for some good lunch fare and we chanced upon this popular izakaya!
Ikki Izakaya offers a variety of lunch sets and I got the tempura set ($15.90) which came with a variety of dishes. The number of tempura pieces isn't many, but at least the ingredients were fresh and quite well fried. The tempura batter was light and does not feel too oily. I liked the salad and fruits given, as they were refreshing and helped to ease the oiliness of the tempura pieces.
A choice to consider if you work nearby. Definitely wished that they gave more tempura pieces though!
Huge serving of yakiniku beef and chargrilled steak on don at a very reasonable price of $12 and $15 respectively. A pity they didnt serve onsen eggs on those beef bowls. Wish they could go just a little more for perfection. Was surprised by their salmon sashimi that is both fatty and fresh along with skewers and chargrilled omelette. Good music and ambience for dinners.

Bara Chirashi ($14)
Decent quality for the price, and actually quite filling as it comes with a rather large portion of rice, as well as miso soup. Sure, it won't be as fresh as many other sushi bars, but for this price, you really can't expect more. Quality should be on par with the likes of Teppei, albeit with a smaller serving of fish. Would definitely come back here if I need a quick Chirashi fix that would not hurt the wallet at all! Service was really efficient too.
Decent portion of chicken chunks covered in runny semi-cooked eggy goodness over don. ($11) The rice had some kind of soy-teriyaki sauce so it's not too dry (hate having to eat plain rice). Yummy food, drinks and good company to celebrate mid-week. (Weekends are nearing 💪🏻😍)
Fish was not fresh today. Also. The lunch set has a better rice to fish ratio than the regular rice bowl...
Wanted a place to eat while everyone was crowding the nearby restaurants due to the heavy rain. Finally ventured to the other side of macs and found seats in a reasonably busy izakaya. Both the udon and chirashi were smaller sizes so they were great for the set! Chirashi was fresh and tasty. Udon could use more flavor though.. Great value set for lunch!
