Black pork, shimeji mushroom & assorted capsicums with yakiniku sauce & poached egg on rice bowl & miso soup

Was decent, pork could have been thicker and juicier but it wasnโ€™t dry, mushrooms and capsicums were tasty, and a runny yolk is always welcome. Rice was alright, not of poor quality but also not as moist/pearly/sticky as other good Japanese restaurants.

I got this set of 7 aburi sushi as a takeaway. There were hits and misses. The octopus and yellowtail were disappointingly tough and chewy. The other pieces were tender and flavourful, though not the freshest. This comes with a bowl of clear soup as well.

This Japanese comfort food just did not feel Japanese anymore with a touch of a somewhat Western-style plating. But honestly speaking, I quite liked this Kamo & Mikan Potato Salad (S$7.90), which included some sliced smoked duck, orange, Japanese mountain vegetables, cherry tomatoes and dressed with blackcurrant mayonnaise.

This appetiser did not really wow me with the taste because it mainly still tasted like regular potato salad. However, the black pepper smoked duck should be used to roll up whatever found above the potato salad and spread with the special mayonnaise, as the different layers of flavour becomes more pronounced. While it was a bit awkward to share between two persons and too little for three, probably having one of these on your own is not such a bad idea after all, especially if you had a thing for potatoes.

Did not expect much but this is surprisingly really good! Love the black pepper kick and the sauce with Japanese rice was perfect. This set was served with a salmon sashimi with avocado on the side which was decent as well. $19.90 before GST charge. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

I eat clean so this is a good option to have. The beef is soft and tender while the salad is fresh.

Sounds like a good deal for people who have late weekday lunches or early dinners, because Ichiban Boshi had this weekday promotion from 3.00pm to 5.00pm where they offer Ankake Yakimeshi (or in layman terms, the Japanese Mui Fan) with a cup of green tea for just S$5.90!

At a decent portion size, the rice came with a thickened Dashi stock, and the pork version consisted of sliced pork, Kimuchi and chopped chilli padi (optional). I wondered why they did not put this in their regular menu as well, but maybe by not doing so it made this dish a little more exclusive to the afternoon crowd. Excluding the green tea, paying slightly more than S$4.00 was definitely worth it.
