It's my first time having porridge with zichar dishes. Loved the porridge as the consistency was just right and there were chucks of sweet potatoes inside. We ordered quite a few zichar dishes to share and the bitter gourd fish slices goes really well with the porridge. Loved the thick sauce with porridge. The prawn paste fried chicken is a must order! The chicken was light and cripsy, the prawn paste was not overpowering and the meat was juicy. We went during the day but we found out that they open until 2am which makes it a great spot for supper!
Stumbled upon 古早人台灣粥 for dinner and was pleasantly surprised—not just by the soothing porridge, but by their wide selection of hearty, home-style Zi Char dishes. It felt like walking into a cozy, old-fashioned kitchen where every plate was cooked with genuine care.
The Taiwanese sweet potato porridge was smooth, subtly sweet, and deeply comforting—a perfect companion to the array of flavorful dishes.
The 梅菜扣肉 was succulent and rich, with the preserved vegetables adding a beautiful depth of umami that complemented each spoonful of porridge.
The 鮮蠔煎蛋 was aromatic and pillowy, with juicy oysters lending a delicate oceanic sweetness in every bite.
The 鹹魚蒸肉碎 was a nostalgic favorite—tender minced pork infused with the bold, savory fragrance of salted fish, hearty yet harmoniously balanced.
The 炸南乳肉 was simply irresistible—crunchy outside, tender inside, with that unmistakable fermented red beancurd savor.
It was a meal that felt both familiar and comforting—traditional flavors done with sincerity and finesse. I left satisfied, warmed, and already planning my next visit. A must-try for anyone craving authentic, soul-nourishing Taiwanese-style comfort food with a Zi Char twist.
Visited 古早人台灣粥 for dinner and was instantly impressed—not just by the comforting porridge, but by their wide range of home-style Zi-Char dishes. It felt like stepping into a warm, nostalgic kitchen where everything is cooked with heart.
The Taiwanese sweet potato porridge was thick, lightly sweet, and so soothing—a perfect base for all the rich, savory flavors. The 梅菜扣肉 was tender, with the preserved vegetables adding a deep, caramelized savoriness that paired beautifully with each spoon of porridge. The 鮮蠔煎蛋 was fragrant and fluffy, with plump, briny oysters lending a fresh ocean sweetness in every bite. The 鹹魚蒸肉碎 was a classic comfort—juicy minced pork lifted by the punchy aroma of salted fish, intensely satisfying yet well-balanced. The 炸南乳肉: crisp on the outside, juicy within, with that addictive fermented red beancurd flavor that kept me reaching for more.
It was a meal that felt both homely and special—familiar flavors done exceptionally well. Left full, happy, and already planning a return visit. Highly recommended for anyone craving soulful, well-executed Taiwanese-style comfort food with Zi-Char flair.
Stumbled upon this cosy spot in Kembangan and was pleasantly surprised by how comforting the food was. The homemade barley drink hit all the right nostalgic notes, reminding me of classic coffee shop vibes. The Sze Chuan Chicken stole the show with its sweet and spicy tang, while the beancurd’s special sauce added a nice twist. Everything paired perfectly with their sweet potato porridge, making it a simple, flavourful, and satisfying meal. Definitely a place I’ll return to for a hearty, feel-good meal! 😋
Went here for dinner with my friend and is happy with the experience. They have a variety of food to choose from and all taste pretty good !:)
this place offers an amazing selection of food at an affordable price. The claypot flavours are well seasoned and balanced with the garnishing, offering a flavourful experience. My favourite is the sambal which was surprisingly not as oily as expected while maintaining the characteristic sambal flavour. Overall a pleasant experience and will highly recommend this place for any meal, even supper!
