Food Republic (Parkway Parade)

I don’t know about you but I tend to stick to the tried and tested stalls at my go-to food courts. Such is the case every time I drop by Food Republic in the basement of Parkway Parade. But then the other day, spontaneity grabbed hold and I veered to something new, leading me to encounter simple comfort food done well.
I get why “SING HK Cafe” is quite popular because even the basic “char chan tang” dish of luncheon meat and egg on rice at the stall is elevated. Cooked with care by a middle-aged China-born cook, the pieces of meat, cut into big cubes, were properly deepfried to achieve a crunchy coating first. Only then did he transfer the meat to the wok into which he poured beaten eggs that he swiftly stirred into the luscious form of a silky blanket.
Besides the default topping of fresh iceberg lettuce, I nodded when he offered to add the aromatic condiment of spring onions cooked in oil to my dish too. What an appetising quick lunch that turned out to be. The stall offers two kinds of chilli sauce but I’d love to have had some fresh cut chilli padi. Yes, not the usual but the tastebuds want what the tastebuds want 😆

Springy noodles, comes with Xiao yu Xiang and ikan bilis. Quite generous with the minced meat, pretty satisfied with this comforting soup and perfectly cooked liver!

We’ve always enjoyed Lam’s Abalone Noodles and we have been missing it for the last half a year! It’s still as tasty as before and comes with a variety of ingredients! Springy noodles tossed in their specialty sauce, topped with half Japanese egg, minced meat, fried fishball, sliced meat, bits of pork lard(our fav!!) and signature abalone stick with scallop! There’s also a separate bowl of heart-warming abalone soup that’s goes so well with it! The side portion of handmade dumplings can be choose between soup or dry, we chose the dry version and the dumplings comes tossed in some gravy, with minced meat and pork lard, super flavourful and irresistible! New mala joint at the Parkway Parade food court does not disappoint! It's flavorful and fragrant with the right amount of numbing heat. A bit expensive compared to other Mala places but it's air conditioned and quite comfortable.

I missed the fried intestine porridge here which goes well with the dough fritters. Ordered many others as well, fried purple potato fritters, salted drumstick, the very nice mee pok, yong taufoo soup, the Indonesian dory fish set, etc.. The food here overall quite nice... Will come back once in awhile thou it's a bit of distance from my place.

I just had to post this wahahaha. "More rice" here equals double.
