The linguine was cooked just nice. The sauce wasnt jelat but it was really spicy. I feel that the prawns wasnt too fresh. Would try their other pastas next time.
We went around 3pm and the place was crowded. Quite a few items were unavailable. The curry rice portion was huge. It's not too spicy. The potato was slightly roasted. The chicken was very crispy and the breaded layer wasnt too thick. But i was disappointed with their service. They came to collect payment the food was served. The staff even question if we paid before we left.
Finally found a chance to visit Equateโs new outlet at Orchard Central. Much more spacious than its first outlet at Tanjong Pagar Plaza, Equate now serves a variety of sandos and pastries as well.
Manifesting a crispy, flakey exterior encasing Gula Melaka ganache within, the ๐ข๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ต ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ถ๐๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐๐๐ฏ๐ฒ ($7.80) was a joy to savour. Topped with fragrant coconut flakes that carried a slight crunch, this was very delectable.
Although I liked the ๐ช๐ต๐ถ๐๐ฒ ($5), it wasnโt as robust and aromatic as I remember it to be from Tanjong Pagar. The ๐ฌ๐๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ ($7.80) wasnโt my cup of tea (literally, cos my wife ordered it). Its sparkling nature plus matcha tasted weird to me.
Overall a place Iโd definitely return to for the aesthetics, vibes and coffee. @equatecoffee
Prices stated are after service and gst. My espresso was pretty sour. It's strong, tho I can't say I enjoyed it very much it was too sour for a coffee.
Matcha was quite distinct and gao, tho not till it's too jelat but I only had a sip so I'm not sure if it's too much for a full glass. The coffee takes a backseat, it's barely there for me, but my friends said it is present tho not obvious.
Earl grey flavour was quite pleasant and present yet not too floral, it paired well with the honey. But again the coffee taste isn't really there. Would do better if named as solely an earl grey drink.
For a coffee place the coffee was not even discernible in their flavoured coffee drinks. I think itโs nice if you treat it as a cafe/place for beverages.
We were unprepared for a glitchy ordering process on the app which ultimately led us to order ovr the counter โฆ (aka waste time) We ordered the ondeh toast and rheubens sando. Didnt order drinks cos everything was just so expensive (cos Orchard, I think)
Toast was served cold with a zigzag drizzle of cream, overall there was not anything too memorable about the taste, thats the thing - it didnt taste like ondeh, the pastry and cream had no taste. I did remember fighting to cut the pastry cos it was served on a metal curved plate which kept spinning right round on the smooth glass tabletop. That resulted in a messy cream and pastry mash up. The bread of the sando was greasy and the crust was so chewy that it gave the old jaw a workout. The beef filling was well-sliced, seasoned well but was a little too dry for me.
I probably wont be back anytime soon to the cold metal seats and even colder service staff.
