Sushiro’s 10th and newest outlet in Singapore opened in July 2023. The Japanese chain, which started operations in 1984, places heavy emphasis on freshness and cleanliness, and does not compromise on quality for the sake of speed.

With its new 170-seater restaurant in the heart of Orchard Road, more people can now enjoy Sushiro’s exceptional sushi, sides and desserts which represent excellent value for money.

Out of over 100 dishes on offer, most of which only cost $2.30, my favourite has to be the Bluefin Fatty Tuna. Unctuous and umami, it provided unparalleled levels of gastronomic delight.

Finally found a chance to visit Equate’s new outlet at Orchard Central. Much more spacious than its first outlet at Tanjong Pagar Plaza, Equate now serves a variety of sandos and pastries as well.

Manifesting a crispy, flakey exterior encasing Gula Melaka ganache within, the 𝗢𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗵 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝘂𝗯𝗲 ($7.80) was a joy to savour. Topped with fragrant coconut flakes that carried a slight crunch, this was very delectable.

Although I liked the 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 ($5), it wasn’t as robust and aromatic as I remember it to be from Tanjong Pagar. The 𝗬𝘂𝘇𝘂 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮 ($7.80) wasn’t my cup of tea (literally, cos my wife ordered it). Its sparkling nature plus matcha tasted weird to me.

Overall a place I’d definitely return to for the aesthetics, vibes and coffee. @equatecoffee

We were also impressed with the perfectly pan-fried 𝗚𝘆𝗼𝘇𝗮𝘀, which were filled with a voluminous amount of juicy pork.

The 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻 was bold, beautiful and bewitching. The robust broth was an explosion of flavours that made this bowl marvellously mouth-watering.

The creamy, flavourful broth and numerous melt-in-your-mouth tender pork belly slices combined to make the 𝗞𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗸𝗼𝘁𝘀𝘂 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻 stunningly scrumptious.

Voted the number one ramen restaurant in London, Kanada-Ya is founded in 2009 in Japan and now has five outlets in Singapore in addition to its stores in Hong Kong, London and Barcelona.

Packed with numerous juicy scallops and savoury bonito flakes, the 𝗛𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀 proved to be supremely scrumptious.

Another popular dish is the 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝘀𝗮. Besides an aromatic, creamy gravy and crunchy prawns, it also features plump oysters, an ingredient that no other laksa in Singapore has.

Orh Kee Noodles has made a name for itself with its elegantly executed 𝘣𝘢𝘬 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘦 (minced meat noodles). Its Killiney Road outlet is also open 24 hours, making it an ideal supper spot due to its prime location.

The 𝗢𝗿𝗵 𝗞𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀 is not to be missed. Perched atop the wheat vermicelli were two humongous scallops and two slices of abalone. The bowl of robust, flavourful soup came with pork slices, pig liver, a fishball and a meatball. Truly a luxurious bowl of gastronomic genius.
