- Very creamy smooth, oozy and melty without being too rich, I loved the texture!!
- Refreshing with a yogurt-like tanginess, lychee bits and rose petals combined to give a distinct floral fruitiness that’s not artificial 🌹 [8.5/10]
- Equal dual layers with the brown one boasting a prominent flavour of gula melaka carrying a deep butterscotch sweetness though it’s a bit too sweet for me.
- Green layer at the bottom had hints of pandan scent.
- Topped with grated coconut, resembling the filling of ondeh ondeh 🥥 [7.5/10]
The salted caramel is quite good. However the texture is a lot more firm than the original, and a lot less melty
As such I much prefer the original for the superior texture
Quite good. Rich, creamy, with a bit of tang from the obvious use of cheese
An exemplary version, unlike most fake basque burnt cheesecakes
One of the best burnt cheesecake I ever had, so creamy and soft, like tofu texture, yet so creamy.
The sweetness level was just right. And this tasted damn decadent.
Dirty Cheesecake might be a name that is familiar to some — a name that has been established since 2020, Dirty Cheesecake had first started out as an online business serving up Basque Burnt Cheesecakes. The folks at Dirty Cheesecake has since expanded their operations, and have opened a new bakery and cafe concept named Dirty Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe within NEWEST that is situated along West Coast Drive — the building also houses other F&B establishments such as that of Kim Eng Chicken Rice, Birdfolks, and an outlet of Burnt Cones (their original location being situated at Sunset Way); just to name a few. With the opening of Dirty Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe, this also means that patrons would also be able to enjoy their basque burnt cheesecakes in a dine-in environment. The space which Dirty Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe occupies is simply but tastefully decorated; whilst the space features white walls and a cement flooring with mostly white furniture and fittings, there is also a blue wall that is painted in the same shade of blue that one would find in their logo – there is also cushioned seats and also a couch seat that allows their patrons to dine in comfort. The folks at Dirty Cheesecake had also took the opportunity to expand on their offerings with the opening of Dirty Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe — not only would one be able to have a taste on their various flavours of basque burnt cheesecakes which they had been retailing online, they now also do serve up a small variety of French viennoiserie (think a selection sweet and savoury croissants), as well as specialty coffee and a selection of tea sourced from Gryphon Tea Company to go along with their bakes and pastries.
Visiting Dirty Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe in the late afternoon as a tea-time treat, we found ourselves settling for just one of their basque burnt cheesecake offerings as we were not quite in the mood to order their sweet and savoury croissants after quite a heavy meal for lunch — the sweet croissants being bundled and sold in a set of three (3) pieces, while the savoury croissants were being bundled and sold in a set of two (2) pieces which seemed a little too much for us. Between the few basque burnt cheesecake offerings that they had on display, we were attracted to the Lychee Rose Cheesecake which came with a rose petal on the top. It has been a while since we have had a proper basque burnt cheesecake that features a molten texture — we were glad that the Lychee Rose Cheesecake from Dirty Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe just hit the right spot in terms of texture even on first look. Consisting of two (2) layers, the standard cream cheese layer comes atop the lychee rose cream cheese layer; the latter coming with a pinkish hue. Digging into the Lychee Rose Cheesecake, one could feel how the Lychee Rose Cheesecake carried a consistent texture throughout — one that is rich, creamy, smooth and decadent; the luscious cream cheese just felt particularly elegant whilst the entire cheesecake did not feel heavy in any way. The Lychee Rose flavour was light but evident; that refreshing floral note that runs subtly at the back of the tongue while the cake maintains its savoury, cheesy note that was not particularly overwhelming — the browned surface on the top coming with just that slight tinge of bitterness to balance things out even further. We also note bits of lychee flesh within the lychee rose layer; not only just enhancing the flavours of the cheesecake, but also providing a bit of contrast in terms of texture as well. Overall, a basque burnt cheesecake that we found to be incredibly easy to have.
Having only tried the Lychee Rose Cheesecake during our visit to Dirty Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe, our experience at Dirty Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe may not be particularly comprehensive considering how they have also released a new range of French viennoiserie with the opening of Dirty Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe. That being said, the Lychee Rose Cheesecake from Dirty Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe is one of the better renditions of the basque burnt cheesecake which we have had tried of the late from an indie-run establishment that started off being an online-based business — we would also think that the quality and consistency of the Lychee Rose Cheesecake that we have had would be representative of their other basque burnt cheesecake offerings, which not only includes their Original Melts Cheesecake (i.e. the basic basque burnt cheesecake), but also other interesting flavours which they offer such as their signature Ondeh Ondeh Cheesecake, Chunky Oreo Cheesecake and Mao Shan Wang Cheesecake. One could most certainly tell how the folks at Dirty Cheesecake had placed quite a bit of time and effort to perfect the recipe for their basque burnt cheesecake — the end product being something that felt really balanced in flavours, yet light to be enjoyed in its entirety; not an easy feat considering the various renditions of basque burnt cheesecakes we have had over the years. Whilst the trend of basque burnt cheesecakes has seemingly died down over time, Dirty Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe is a spot to hit for those looking for a spot serving up a good one — just probably in a location that is slightly out-of-the-way that is still worth making that effort to go to.
