Located inside a boutique hostel, the interior of COO Bistro is nicely decorated - I like the neon lights & chill music.
They're currently running a lunch time promotion for their rice bowls (about $2 off each) in April, which is why I came here.
Truffle Wagyu Don ($18+) - I can't say no to beef. This was $16+ in promotion this month. It took a while to prepare- waited 20 mins & I was the only customer here.
Unfortunately, it was quite a let down 😔. The rice was mushy & bland - had a porridgey sort of after taste. Beef was tender to chew, but could've been cooked a little rarer in my opinion.
There are 3 other rice bowls on the menu; perhaps they are better (although the Wagyu Don was the only one with the "chef's recommendation" label on it): Roasted Pork Belly ($12.80+; $10+ on promo)
Kampung Fried Rice ($12.80+; $10+ on promo)
Torched Codfish Kaisen ($16+; $14+ on promo)
Prawn fettucine ! The BBQ prawn was full of flavour. The chilli sauce to accompany the pasta added to the kick as well! #coobistro #eatigosg #burpple
With salt & pepper fish, grilled chicken satay, roasted pork belly, mackerel keropok, garden salad, and house sambal belacan.
Especially love the tender juicy chicken satay with the rich nutty gravy.
Cleverly designed to resemble the iconic Tiong Bahru Chwee Kueh.
The rounds of panna cotta are topped with candied walnuts and balsamic strawberries to complete the look.
Love this dessert for its smoky caramelised banana, warm and sweet. Goes well with the peanut butter ice cream, rum soaked raisins, and blueberry compote.
