More Reviews of good food at Classic Cakes (Sunset Way)

Classic Cakes is an old school establishment located at Clementi Arcade, at Sunset Way region.

Parking here is free, there's no gantry.

Classic Cakes have a few popular items on their menu, from black forest Cakes to crepe Cakes and yam/radish Cakes.

And the Black Forest Cakes here are definitely one of their most popular item on their menu.

Always remembered my parents making us eat lots of these blueberry or Cherry filling Cakes, eat until scared liao. So for Dad's birthday, decided to eat thr black forest cake for nostalgia sake.

And the cake did not dissappoint, the chocolate shavings were rich chocolate flavour, cherry fillings were drench in liquor and the cake was rather moist.

But the whole cake is indeed very pricey @$55

I still prefer this over lady M. I also enjoy the taste of the burnt caramel on top. It's not cheap but it's not easy to get the crepes so thin and well done.

The owner warned me that this is gonna be addictive. I would like to say that he's being cocky, but if you can back up your words then it's not cocky, it's just speaking the truth.

And the truth he spoke. The fudgy brownie was good on its own, but the Salted caramel was definitely next level. They didnt pull any punches with the depth of flavour, particularly the saltiness. You can taste it clearly, and yet it wasnt so much as to overpower the sweetness.

So yes, the owner is right haha

This one was decent too, but not as special as the rest. Could be because i ate it with my sweet receptors surpressed abit

Yes, it's Lady M's price so you know they got a lot of confidence in themselves

NOTE also that this isnt in the display case, instead it's on a paper notification above the display case and its not available daily either

The Mille Crepe was soft and the bruleed top was perfect. Really added a nice crunchy textural contrast but wasnt too sweet either. However the durian puree was what set them apart. They cooked D24 durian as well as add secret ingredients, until it's super rich and slightly sticky, such that if u stick your fork horizontally into a bite, the bottom half wouldnt fall off. Despite it's richness, it doesnt feel heaty at all. Truly a glamourous creation deserving of its price

When it's in such a ulu location yet they charge you similar prices to normal cake shops, you know something's up.

The gula melaka and strong Banana flavours melded well, but what made it a winner for me was how moist everything tasted tgt.

@ahpeksfoodlog and I shared a radish Cake aka Lor Bak Gou (Quarter, $8). Made from a traditional family recipe, this savoury chinese cake consists of radish bits, chinese sausage and dried shrimp. It's also toppled with plenty of fried shallots, spring onion and sliced chilli to ensure every bite packs a punch!

Have always wanted to try the traditional steamed cakes here after it was raved about by @foodkingnoc! The radish cake here was a delight to have as it is stuffed with bits of radish, Chinese sausage and dried shrimp, making every bite different from the previous one. The cake is also topped with lots of fried shallots that added crunch to each bite. Top it off with the sambal if you want an extra kick; the sambal packs a punch!

This was really good. The durian flavour was tip top. There's no words to describe this crepe so why don't you make a trip down and give it a try???

Recommended by Food King. I don't find this radish cake that special but the chilli sauce did go very well with the radish cake (well, it should).

Compared to other Chinese radish cakes, this wasn't that oily and yet still manage to maintain the good old taste of radish cakes. I guess that's why it's one of their best-selling items!

Black Velvet Cake from Classic Cakes @ Clementi Arcade. This is yummy!

A get well soon treat for me. Lemon caramel cheesecake from Classic Cakes.

What's not to like? It's simply awesome.

Indulging in one of my guilty pleasure ~ rich and decadent mille crΓͺpes from Classic Cakes that is handmade with [arduous labour of] love❣️. Their crepe cake has twenty paper-thin layers [tried my ultimate best to count], laid on layer-by-layer with fresh cream topped with caramelised sugar. This delish treat is so worth the calories, yay!
