Another of my favourite items here is the ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜ ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฒ ($1.20 per pc). It came as a rectangular block, with a crispy skin encasing a soft, fluffy radish centre. Freshly fried, it possessed an alluring aroma and its taste was redolent of ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ (dried shrimp), which boosted its flavour considerably.

Even in the dying embers of its operations (last day on 8th May), Cheong Fan Paradise does not compromise on its quality. Like battle-hardened soldiers protecting their country from much stronger invaders, and knowing that death is imminent, @cheongfanparadise will go down in glory, fighting to the very end.

It is with great sadness when I read that Cheong Fan Paradise, a hawker stall opened by a former head dim sum chef at Shangri-La's Shang Palace, will be closing due to manpower issues. Having attained cult status withย its two to three hour-long queues during its peak, it has become one of my favourite chee cheong fun stalls. I dropped by for one last hurrah.ย

Silky smooth sheets made from rice flour drizzled in a scrumptious sweet-savoury sauce is what I've come to expectย from Cheong Fan Paradise. The chee cheong fun slid down my throat effortlessly and the fillings were stellar as well. The fresh and crunchy prawns in the ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜„๐—ป ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฒ ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—™๐˜‚๐—ป ($4.50) and the meaty bits of char siew in the ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฟ ๐—ฆ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜„ ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฒ ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—™๐˜‚๐—ป ($3.80) were exceptional.

Chee cheong fun - The silky smooth rice rolls soaked up the sauce nicely, and came with a house-made belachan chilli that had a delightful sweet-spicy kick.

My aunt and I have tried Cheong Fan Paradise for breakfast a few times now, and itโ€™s become a family favourite to make those work from home days a little more exciting.

Pictured (clockwise from the top) are the Char Siew Cheong Fan, Prawn Cheong Fun, and the Plain Cheong Fan.

All three are delicious but my favourite is the Char Siew Cheong Fan because it has a good mix of fatty and meaty pieces of pork. The cheong fan is silky and thin, which pairs nicely with the gravy, which isnโ€™t too salty, and the fried shallots on top. The Prawn version comes with a good amount of prawn and tastes great with their chili while the Plain version comes with cai po and a thicker sauce/gravy. I find that it tastes nicer with less of the sauce because it is on the saltier side.

Prices are very reasonable and each order comes with enough cheong fan to share or to have to yourself.

Located at industrial area, this Chee cheong fun stall run by ex Shangri-la.
The chee cheong fun is thicker than I expected, the ingredients not a lot but the gravy and chilli ate tasty.
๐Ÿ’ฐ$3.5 for Char Siew.
๐Ÿ’ฐ$4 for prawn.
