All of this notwithstanding, Golden Hour is 3-6PM Friday- Sunday if you wish to check it out. I heard really good things about Brasserie Astoria when they opened, but I guess I waited too long to dine here & something changed along the way.
Dining time during Golden Hour (3-6PM, Friday-Sunday) is strictly 1 hour, as the waiter made very sure to emphasize this to everyone that was seated. The place wasn’t even half full when I entered & left, though. Just putting it out there.
While the food was incredibly salty, the Pineapple Daiquiri ($12++) was fine. At half price of usual cocktails, I’m not going to complain. Wasn't anything to shout about, though.
On first bite, the Smashed Burger ($12++) was fine, maybe even delightful (I haven’t had a burger in a while). But at the end of my meal, I was struggling to finish it. There supposedly is spicy horseradish aioli in it - that wasn’t obvious to me.
The Calamares Fritos ($12++) didn’t help, either. Squeezing the lime on it didn’t help with the saltiness at all. I left some of it behind, quite sadly.
Never thought this was possible, but I didn’t finish the food on my plate.
This was one of the saltiest meals I’ve had in…. Ever. Thank God they served water & were attentive in topping it up.
TLDR: This was salty AF. Both of them. Saltier than I am about my meal.
