Saltish Parma ham, rich fontina, sweet and earthy artichokes, tart tomatoes and bitter rocket leaves — all packed between pesto-brushed ciabatta. For a very tasty sandwich with well balanced flavours, bet on this!

Again, I love bread. So the idea of eating cured meats and cheeses with bread is a dream. If you need help, the friendly staff will guide you in ordering your meats and cheeses or if anything, it’s all written on the chalkboard. The pastas and sandwiches are decent too, but I did notice that the pasta came out from a frozen packet. Granted it’s from Italy, I’m just not too sure how I feel about that. BUT it was tasty. Maybe just stick to the platters for now.

Nice quirky brunch place, love the ham and cheese sandwiches there.

The antipasti platter is served with 4 types of cold cuts including salumi Milano, prosciutto di Parma and porchetta; 3 types of cheese including tomme, parmigiano reggiano and provolone; 3 condiments including preserved mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and pesto; and a loaf of bread.

The selection of cold cuts were perfect for a lunch meal or over a glass of wine. The 4 cold cuts were a good mix of flavours; with the prosciutto di Parma standing out the most. The porchetta had a nice layer of fat, similar to lardo. The 3 types of cheese came in soft, medium and hard, and married perfectly with the sundried tomatoes and pesto as a makeshift bruschetta. You will never find a more affordable charcuterie in Kuala Lumpur.

Appreciation to @BottegaMY and @BurppleKL.

This homely setup in Laman Ceylon is a haven for Italian food lovers. Part foodstore, part deli, Bottega Mediterranea boasts an eye-opening selection of Italian-imported products for sale. From cold cuts to sauces and jars of pickle, the array is a quite a sight to behold. But that's for people who cook. For people who don't (like me), head straight to the deli in the back where you can order the charcuterie platter to wipe clean on a chill afternoon. Bresaola (cured beef), porchetta, honey ham and salami, all featured next to one (or three) of my favourite things in the world: cheese! Scarmorza, parmigiano and toma, to be specific. If these names aren't familiar, don't worry - they taste superb and that's all that matters. The platter also comes complete with gherkins, artichoke, capperberry and breadddddd (love). Despite how incidental the whole place looks, it's also got an authentic charm. I also highly recommend the Parma Sandwich (RM23.20) - warm Fontina cheese melted over parma ham with a sliver of fat, and little bulbs of artichokes in between.
p.s. The platter pictured here is portioned for one.
