At $8.80, one of the most value for money pho around. Fuss free ordering.

The most overlooked and understated Vietnam food establishment in Singapore. Their banhmi buns are crispy on the outside, soft yet with a good bite on the inside. The pate, ham and pickles are generous and fresh.

Feel like having Vietnamese for lunch? Head to this Hitachi Tower joint (it's taken over the space vacated by Baguette) for a banh mi or pho fix. There are only five sandwiches and two pho options to pick from, so choosing should be pretty easy. Burpple Tastemaker Xing Wei recommends the BMB Pork Meat Ball ($6.80) — the crusty bread sandwiches tender and peppery pork balls that go really well with the zesty pickled vegetables. Wash it all down with the Viet Ice Coffee ($3.60), or for something different, go for the Saigon Salty Ice Lemonade ($3.90), which is salty, tangy and so refreshing!
Avg price: $10 including a drink

A personal favourite that I found is a must-order not only here, but anywhere that carries it. Had it first at Mrs Pho, where I got hooked to that salty and tangy concoction; some might find it similar to sports drinks, but I definitely found it unforgettable!

Checking out this newly revamped Banh Mi shop in Hitachi Towers named Banhmi Brothers, which seemed like a collaboration between previous tenant Baguette and one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants in town, Mrs Pho featuring a more concentrated Banh Mi menu and a small Pho menu. Tried this, which is also known as BMB Grill Pork Meat Balls baguette. Coming with a crisp baguette bread that packs a crunch, the buttered bun surprisingly didn't feel any bit crispy nor disruptively buttery. Inside, the chopped pork balls were meaty and tender, carrying a hint of peppery flavour alongside with the pickled vegetables which packs a zesty punch. The cucumbers gave the sandwich a refreshing crunch, and the coriander definitely adds a good zing that rounds off everything so well. I like how despite the lack of seats, they were so thoughtful as to include a few handphone charging cables at each communal table for a quick charge while you have a bite on the sandwiches. Chicken Pho and Beef Pho are also available here so you can actually solve your cravings for Mrs Pho's stellar pho noodles. Definitely a worthy addition to the CBD!
