Poor Experience Ordered a mix of 9 muffins. Was not given the option of choosing the 9, and instead a member of staff shoved 9 random ones in the bag - it was not one of each for sure. Tasted very ordinary and the staff were rude and disinterested. Would not bother coming again.

Cheese Twists Bought two packs of cheese twists for $7 cos they looked so crunchy and tasty while displayed on the counter. Staff assured me they can be kept for two weeks. Went back and tried it and I was sorely disappointed. The twists were stale with no cheese umami whatsoever.... may have been on their counter for two weeks because nobody buys them. Tried their apple tart which is their signature product. Nothing to crow about. Wont be back ever again.

Tuna Melt ($16) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Delicious with crispy toasted sourdough and loved the kick from the pickled jalapeños! Very filling and one entire tuna melt would be enough for my lunch. The crowd on Saturday comes in just after 11am, but thankfully their cooking time has sped up since their days at Cross St.

Mocha - Caffeine was rather light and had a more chocolatey taste, would prefer it more intense. [6.5/10]

Breakfast sammy - Spam was crispy but a tad too salty. - Egg sauce was fragrant with chives but very creamy rich, which got too heavy for me towards the end of half a sandwich 🍳 [7/10]

The Lobby Lounge 3.75⭐ The high tea set is Peranakan theme. Champagne is ordered ala carte and not inclusive in the high tea set. Each high tea set comes with 2 drinks so my colleague and I ordered the signature Rose Veranda Signature Blend and the Shangri-La Tea for sharing. Recommend the Signature Blend which is more fruity bcos the Shangri-La Tea taste like lighter version of Teh O. Mangata It’s been a while since I last checked out the cocktails concocted by hotels, and this glass of Mangata was a pleasant surprise, because they incorporated a surprising element — tea! The Mangata (S$23.00) used Gryphon’s Osmanthus Sencha Tea to complement mango juice, citrus and London dry gin. It would probably not be lethal, as the taste of alcohol seemed to be well-camouflaged by the fruity and floral notes. And I guess that might just be the scary thing about unsuspecting cocktails: I might just order more!

Indulge In Local Specialties To Your Heart And Belly’s Content. On the second morning of our staycation at Shangri La Hotel, we chose the local-style breakfast served here. Although the format is a la carte on weekdays, during weekends and public holidays, it switches to a la carte buffet, which means besides picking a main course, there‘s a spread to help ourselves to. There are six options for the mains, running the gamut from a Wanton Mee by Shang Palace’s Executive Chef Mok Kit Keung (pictured above), to signature dishes by a few famous Singapore brands like @thecoconutclubsg, @springleafprataplace that Shangri La has collaborated with. The buffet, though modest in scale, has gems representing Singapore’s multi-cultural society like Chwee Kueh from @jianboshuikueh, Putu Mayam, Mee Siam, Lontong and an outstanding Kaya Toast.

BISCUIT SKIN ROASTED PORK & PREMIUM CHAR SIEW 🐷 叉烧烧肉饭 is always my go-to order at many roast meat stalls, and more than often, one meat will turn out great while the other is mediocre. I managed to find a good balance of deliciousness over at 88 Hong Kong Roast Meat Specialist. The biscuit-like skin on the roasted pork is highly addictive and nicely salted while the char siew is nicely charred and even better if you get the burnt ends or cuts with a nice fat-to-meat ratio. I would recommend to cut down on the sweet braising sauce that the staff will add on top of the meat, and savour the flavours of each meat as it is.

Roasted pork rice roasted pork is one of my favorite meats. but sadly, this place didn’t quite hit the mark despite being highly raved. the skin wasn’t that crispy and the marinate of the pork was not quite there. it wasn’t a bad plate, just that it was nothing spectacular. my friend also commented that standards seemed to have dropped from the last time she tried.

Roasted Meat Platter The roast meat over here is highly raved and we ordered all meat available so that we don’t miss out on any. Our combo platter includes roast pork, char siew and roast duck drumstick. The roast pork is thickly sliced with layers of tender, juicy meat and fats with crispy crackling skin. The char siew was chunky and juicy with a nice caramelised glaze and a charred exterior. I read reviews that their cuts are usually fatty hence I requested mine to be less fat and leaner cut. It was extremely soft and tender, not dry and tough at all. The roast duck drumstick was well seasoned, not gamey, tender and juicy with a crispy golden brown skin. I would suggest pairing those meats with noodles over rice. The noodles are cooked al-dente, well flavoured with hints of pepper, pork lard oil and crispy pork lard. It’s just too difficult to decide which is the best but I’ll say the porky wins the ducky. 3 Meat Combo Platter 》$20 (Incl Noodles & Rice)

Awesome ice cream joint!! $5.20 for the regular cup but the portion is actually not that little. We chose the Kochi Yuzu and Granny's favourite - both of which were their Signature flavours. Taste and texture were on point and there is really nothing to complain about at all. Lovely experience in a cosy air-conditioned environment with power plugs almost everywhere. Will definitely return for their seasonal flavours.

Founded by wife-husband team of Eunice Soon and Chronos Chan in September 2005, this long-serving brand is known for their creative international flavours. . A typical daily range features between 18 to 36 flavours from their impressive catalogue of 180 flavours of ice cream. . The Triple Thai Coconut and Taiwanese Sesame Brittle, in a cup, have similar creamy sticky thick texture, the former smooth with floral earthy milky sweet flavour, the latter grainy with earthy nutty toasty sweet flavour. . The former is made with coconut gelato, coconut meat, and coconut water jelly; the latter is made with black sesame gelato, and sesame seed brittle. . The Yali Poached Pear and Hummingbird, in a cone, have similar creamy sticky thick texture, the former juicy with fruity floral sweet flavour, the latter chunky with fruity spice earthy sweet flavour. . Lovely flavours! @tomspalettesg is familiar to many throughout the years, due to their huge variety of flavours and quality gelato! Do expect to find flavours that are interesting as well, such as Nasi Lemak and pipagao! However, my favourites are still their alcoholic flavours, as they remained pretty strong throughout the years! The Guinness Chocolate was a good blend of flavours, with the aromatics of the chocolate complementing well with the rich roasty flavour of the stout. This was not too sweet as well. The Rum & Raisin is a classic favourite, with a strong rum flavour. The vanilla milk base was rich and fragrant to begin with, making this such a hit! However, it can be a bit sweet so maybe a contrasting flavour might help. One of my favourite dessert places to go!

Egg Tart ($1.20), Wife Delight ($1.20), Lotus Seed Pastry With Single Yolk ($2) One of the ten million HK bakery in Chinatown, Da Sheng is a no frills down-to-earth honest-to-goodness bakery serving the usual HK bakes! Wife delight was very nice with the unusual addition of some brown rice/flax seed to the wintermelon/almond/sesame paste that was the perfect ratio of chewy to non-chewy and tasted of homemade goodness 🤤🤤 Egg tarts were a huge letdown though, custard layers separated and the crust wasn’t buttery nor flaky enough. Thankfully, their lotus seed pastry was really good - mooncake-like lotus seed paste with a huge egg yolk encased in a baked shell of flaky goodness! Definitely do try their more unique bakes (wife biscuit, lotus seed pastry) but can give their egg tarts a miss!

Humble Hong Kong Pastries Located along the bustling Sago street and beside the more-famous Tai Chong Kok (大中国饼家), this humble-looking and no-frills pastry shop offers just 6-7 types of Hong Kong pastries in small quantities. I know I did not take a flattering photo, but this just testify how flaky the pastry was 👍 I was impressed by the egg tarts because it's true to what they said about being less sweet, while still having sufficient egginess. The salted bean pastry was passable, though I would've preferred it to be more savoury. Do give their other pastries a try, especially their signature lotus paste with salted egg yolk pastry! And they're definitely best eaten warm!

Egg Tarts The real deal ! Although da sheng has been around for more than a decade , its presence hasn't been felt as much as other " celebrity egg tarts " which have shot to fame hence I hope this post will ignite the interest of egg tart lovers :) I love the flaky egg tarts from da sheng. Bite into them especially when they are fresh from the oven ( usually by 1030 am daily ) and I promise you - these egg tarts are one of the best in town. The egg custard filling has just the right sweetness and the right texture. It may be nice to know that the bakery uses 100 percent vegetable oil . Price wise - very affordable at 90 cents each .

Taste of Love!!! Mao Shan Wang croissants = heavenly mix of durian + cheese + buttery croissant and mine had a crisp maple bacon on top too. Very light and decadent, what a unique way to capture the king of all fruits Worth every bite and every calorie! A box of 10 goes for $45, with delivery being $8.

Sticky Date Bundt ($5.50) Love the bits and small chunks of sticky dates amidst the light traditionally-doughnut-shaped cake! Though it was on the drier side, it wasn’t as dry as it looked and would be perfect with some toffee/caramel sauce or butterscotch ice cream 😍😍 Nice as a small sweet quick pick-me-up on-the-go! 💨💨

Omakase Picnic Box A little treasure trove of baked goods, last week’s @sugarthieves.co Omakase Picnic Box ($32) saw a wonderful mix of croissants, pastries and cakes. Caramelized Onion Mushroom Tart - Topped with mushroom, mozzarella, and a generous layer of caramelized onions, the tart was fragrant, savoury, and sweet. The puff pastry was also buttery, light, and crisp after a quick pop into the oven. Signature Carrot Bundt Cake - Chockfull of toasted mixed nuts, the mini bundt cake was lightly spiced and moist. Paired with lemon cream cheese and lemon pineapple curd which offered the perfect zing, the cake wasn’t cloying or overly sweet. Levain Cookie - Soft, gooey, and lusciously chocolatey, the cookie was a classic done right. Best enjoyed warm, the big pockets of melted chocolate were superbly good with the buttery cookie. Ispahan Croissant - A foolproof combination done on a freshly baked croissant, Sugar Thieves’ rendition uses rose cream, raspberry jam, and lychee bits. The floral-fruity number wasn’t too sweet for me even with the sugary glaze and was nicely balanced with the buttery pastry in my opinion. Spring Onion Croissant - My second time having this and I am still loving the punchy aroma of spring onions and the slight tang from the sour cream on their croissant.

Smoked Salmon Burger I have not been to Scrambled for a while and I almost forgot how glorious their scrambled eggs burgers are. The Smoked Salmon Burger ($11.90) comprises of creamy scrambled eggs, melted cheddar and smoked salmon topped with torched mentaiko mayo. The Brioche buns are super soft and fluffy and the whole burger is smokey, moist (the eggs and cheese are literally dripping) and simply delicious. I topped up $4.50 for the set meal which comes with a generous portion of shoestring fries served with an addictive curry mayo sauce, as well as a drink of your choice. A really decent scrambled eggs burger I must say👍🏻

Scrambled Egg Burger with fries set Dropped by for lunch at Scrambled and got their smoked salmon scrambled egg burger with fries! The bread was a tad oily but it was toasted well. Unfortunately, the mentaiko sauce and smoked salmon overpowered the scrambled egg (which i assume should be the main star). Nonetheless it was still a good burger, and I’d come back to try other flavors. My friend enjoyed her katsu pork variant alot more! Got their cajun fries and truffle fries from set A and set B respectively. Fries were very crisp and fresh, and seasoned well. Truffle dip came separately and it was really fragrant! Overall pretty pricey (about $16 for my set A meal w salmon) but delicious fast food!

Bacon & Cheese ($9.90) Quite a filling breakfast burger filled with Scrambled Eggs, Melted Cheddar, Crispy Bacon Strips and Sweet & Savory Maple Aioli.

Soft Serve $6 One of the best Ive had so far, so refreshing and milky!

Creme Brulee 1 For 1 The caramelized crust is done nicely and the ice cream itself taste really milky and refreshing! Love the deal! Costs $8 for two creme brulee soft serve.

Melon Soft Serve (6.50sgd) Refreshing sweet yubari melon flavor. Generally smooth ice cream texture and slightly icy-gritty. Sweetness tasted pretty natural. Great.

EatUp Pesto Chicken Pasta (S$19.80++) Fresh chicken strips, onion, fresh tomato, on a homemade pesto sauce with cashew nuts. Not bad although it could get slightly on oily side at bottom.
