They've been in the cold brew scene for awhile now & even with their repackaged look, @oldhencoffee still remains consistent in serving up delish cold brews.
Ranging from your usual white/black cold brew, they also have mocha, chocolate, matcha and oat white.
For their white, flavour profile wise is creamy, nutty and smooth to drink, exactly as the description states. An easy option for both coffee lovers & non-coffee lovers alike. For their black, it's light & fruity, making it really easy to drink.
For one, they really donāt skimp on the matcha; not in the bread dough, and definitely not in the oozy flowy custard. Itās rich, itās got matchaās characteristic bitterness, and itās sweetened just right. The breadās as fluffy as itās moist and tender-crumbed, the perfect canvas for that thick custard filling. Psst, I hear todayās the National Doughnut Day and yes this aināt one but Iāll tell yāall it beats some bombolonis Iāve had out there.
Taste:
The Prawn Ball, and Prawn Broth were both never taste before kinda good 𤤠Like where did you come from?? Who made you??
Read reviews that the actual prawn wasnāt fresh⦠so I steered clear of it⦠LOL, and I had a good meal!
Worthiness($):
$35.31 for 2 bowls so average abt $17.5 after gst and service charge
5/5 for the invention
4.5/5 for broth
5/5 for qq noodles
Convenience of Location:
Very convenient! Just a stone throw away from Buona Vista MRT
Food:
Go for the Poetās Burger and the Fish and Chips! The batterās better than most! Possibly THE BEST battered fish & chips imo! Sizeable portions, very worth it with Burpple Beyond. Beef Patty in the burger was also very well seasoned - kudos to the chef!
Price:
Paid a total of 40.66 for 2 (Burpple Beyond now requires u to buy a set. Which means main+drink (cocktail/ draught beer) so itās slightly more pricey than before when BB was just for the mains. My recc would be to SKIP the cocktails here because itās super watered down (not sure if itās because we used Burpple) but yea, not a fan.) stick to the mains!
Thoughts:
1. Would definitely want to bring all my friends here! I love the food š¬ Iāve personally always wanted to try the ribs⦠but for some reason - all 3 times Iāve visited this place, it always ran outā¦
2. Waiting time varies⦠from 10mins to an hour⦠LOL book in advance because itās always full house (back when bars could play music) and make sure your orderās in. Had a pretty traumatic experience once šŖ
3. Maybe not so much for people with HUGE appetites⦠Ild say the burger is very filling for an average person (both girl and guy), fish⦠not so much
4. Photoās pretty meh but the food is pretty good so donāt take my word for it - try it! Perhaps now with P2HA, no eating in/ atmospheric music⦠taking away wouldnāt be as nice⦠guess youāll just have to wait for when the restrictions are lifted!
Location/ Accessibility:
About 10 mins walk from Orchard MRT
Bring an umbrella or youāll be drenched if it rains
Nestled amongst within the heartlands of Ang Mo Kio Ave 6, this hidden gem coffee bar serves up signature roasts and pastries for the perfect boost to that pesky mid-afternoon slump. Pair the classic Black ($4.50) or White ($5) with a side of Pain au Chocolat ($5.50) or sweeten your day with a Mocha ($5.50). If you're up for something special, why not give their Orange Espresso ($6) a try? You might be in for a surprise.

Find this hidden gem along Waterloo Street for their Maple Pecan Pie ($9), which was highly raved by Burppler Xing Wei Chua on "a soft crunch that reveals a nutty note that goes so well with the sweet fragrance of maple that is not overly saccharine beneath the top layer; all that against the buttery tart layer that actually holds up to the fork really well." If you're coming with a group of friends, get a taste of all their bakes from the creamy Basque Cheese ($8), sinful Blackout Choco ($8) and classic Red Velvet ($8), paired with a aromatic cup of Black ($5) and signature Pumpkin Latte ($8).
Look at the peanut oozing out!! The amount of peanut varies from worker to worker so do check their pancakes on display first. But nonetheless, still good!!!
Munchi offers a huge selection of MJK in original, charcoal and green tea skin with a choice of fillings such as peanut, coconut, red bean and sesame. Other than MJK, they also have pancakes with a more variety of fillings like Belgian chocolate, cream cheese, honey cheese, ice cream, mao shan wang, matcha, oreo cheese and Thai milk tea.
The usual peanut MJK consist of ground peanut and sugar but over at munchi, they use housemade peanut butter that is chunky and crunchy. Other than the colour, there isnāt much taste to the charcoal flavoured skin. I like the soft, fluffy and chewy skin when goes together with the thick and rich peanut filling makes it a very satisfying snack ć$1.30
$8 for 20??? š¤¤š
We tabao (takeaway) the frozen one $10 for 30 without fail, every time we visit.

We unanimously agreed that this is our favourite Chinese Stall, and thatās quite something for a family with a Chinese taste bud!
We look forward to having Chinese food, cooked by PRC Chinese whenever we visit our gramps at Yishun! Usually the storeās wooden tables would be filled with boisterous Chinese families enjoying their dishes with drinks... thatās when you know itās good right!! Seems like they do mass orders too, as seen from their massive spread and huge generous scoops 𤤠man I drool just looking from afar...
Pictured here (on Insta @ThamEats) are a few of our top hits:
1. Fried Large Intestines [$16]
- really a rare find in Singapore, so it stays at the top of our list even though itās quite pricey
2. Fried Dumplings [20 pieces for $8 š¤¤]
- huge chunk of well marinated meat in thin crisp skin, I canāt ask for anything more HAHA oh but ya cause itās deep fried, the meet inside doesnāt retain much juice. Ild have it with their chilli oil over ginger and vinegar for the perfect pairing)
3. Twice cooked pork [$12 alarcarte, $5 if ordered with rice as a meal]
Unpictured but really recommend:
1. Beef Noodle Soup [$5?]
- Broth is real sick, thick, deep you gotta try for yourself, noodles is Super Q, we usually request to separate them when we takeaway
2. Steamed Dumpling
- we tried this before trying the deep fried one, has thicker skin than the deep fried one, itās the thick Chinese dumpling, but with awesome soup in the dumplings. These are different from your korean dumplings/mandu
3. Mapo Tofu [$8 alarcarte, $5 with rice]
- tbh feel like the alarcarte is overpriced, but itās good haha the marination is executed to perfection, they cook it to how I imagine perfect mapo tofu to be. Smooth cubes doused in sour sauce with a spice kick at the end. Perfect pairing with rice
4. Shredded potatoes with rice [$5]
- wouldnāt get this alarcarte [$8] though itās an option, I appreciate the attention to ingredient in the dish! Fresh sliced garlic, stir fried with the mala peppercorn, dried chilli š¶, spring onion topped unto the shredded potatoes... glorious carbs
Erm special mention to their rice and chilli oil :-) rice is very nicely cooked, each grain separated from another, but firm enough for a substantial bite. Chilli oil, Iāve been loving chilli oil.
Goes well with Rice š¤¤

š¬: First time trying da la and it was super shiok and very fragrant, really really liked it! Not sure why people say Ri Ri is the best when jem's is 10x more fragrant
