The saving grace in this dish was the combination of mash potato and honey mustard sauce (which goes well with most things). And after having those thoughts about the wings I began to feel as though most of the food here had been pre-made (they started tasting like it) and simply put together in their kitchen. Okay I mean to give them the benefit of doubt, surely they prepared the duck leg, which ended up being overcooked and stiff. I'm very unforgiving in my thoughts about this place I know! I probably stand corrected though, since it's really just my opinion!

Lola's needs no introduction and I was here because I had it down on my wishlist. I really like its location - a little out of the way from where I live and nestled in a neighbourhood with a somewhat laid-back feel (of course, we're hardly laid-back in sg). We were here twice - the first time missing brunch by a mere 3 minutes and thus settled for sides which included truffle fries and bangers and mash. On the second visit, we ordered these crispy wings and they were delicious. However, whilst eating I recalled a similar taste to that of CP's very own crispy wings and was a little skeptical about these wings being actually marinated/seasoned in their own kitchen. Eventually, I was so convinced these were really CP wings I felt a little disappointed for having returned, only to be served something which I could get from the supermarket. That being said, IF these were really prepared from scratch in their kitchen, I'd be really surprised they managed to recreate the taste of CP's wings but I also wonder if I'd appreciate that. As you can already tell, I'm really undecided as to whether or not I liked this ::/

Served warm, this creamy palak paneer has bits of garlic in it which makes it very fragrant. It also leaves you feeling very guilty about seeing the bottom of the bowl as you scrape along it's metal sides to savour every bit of the spinach purée.

Every time I crave for naan with a butter chicken dip, I'm here.

I've given many cooked salmon mains a try when dining out and as with beef, there just aren't many places that are able to nail it. The chef at db though, he got it all right this day - a moist fillet and crispy, salty salmon skin, fingerling potatoes and warm cherry tomatoes, basil pistou and lemon-chicken jus - thank goodness for online menus - everything. EVERYTHING was done right in this one. Kinda makes me afraid to return for more now I'm worried I won't get to enjoy the same experience as I had hehe!

So much to love about this salad! The thick slice of olive-loaded bread, very fresh greens and a light, creamy dressing all went very well with the tuna (not reeking of brine 👍). The addition of anchovy or herring (honestly couldn't tell) was the best part of the salad for me because its saltiness made everything taste so. much. more.

Eat this to momentarily forget about your sore throat woes and acknowledge that life is indeed good when the likes of crunchy chestnut, crispy beancurd skin and fragrant, spiced meat all come together to make this world a better place. Oh yeah~

The food at Salt used to be real tantalising to our taste buds but we agreed this would probably be our last time here after having been disappointed in our recent visits :( The lack of consistency in the standard of food served here is the main reason why this is so. Last night, meatballs were dry and unseasoned, pâté was too salty and after requesting for a change the 2nd serve was much less salted but the rubbery taste of liver became too much to bear. The truffle fries just lacked that oomph as with most sub-standard truffle fries that don't get tossed evenly in truffle oil. So yeah, I'm pretty bummed about this cause I really liked this place. Just not so much to want to return anymore, or at least for a long time to come.

Apart from this outlet, I've been to the ones at ION, Plaza Singapura, JCube and Bugis. They don't always deliver in terms of quality and taste but I always find myself a willing patron of this chain of restaurants because 1. My weakness is sushi 2. They do have stuff on the menu which aren't too conventional and which I'd gladly order. 3. It's averagely priced, serve rather fresh sashimi, and plus, the people whom I've dined with here so far are people who love Jap food (seriously, who doesn't??) and so makes the experience twice as awesome :) that said, I'm always open to dining at different Japanese restaurants but Itacho just seems to be the one that comes to mind whenever I need my sushi-fix, you know?
