I've been here a couple of times but never done a post about it anywhere on social media... Because I guess this is pretty well-known and kinda over-exposed in a way hahaha. Which is why I really like this app because time doesn't matter, it's really all about the food and the experience of the food and I feel like I can do a post about food at whatever time I want - whenever I think about food. That said, Shiok Maki never fails. It's that smokiness of the torched mayonnaise that fills your whole mouth (read: must eat whole slice at one go) and makes you go mmmfff~ gosh writing about it gives me a huugge craving for this dish... Maybe that's what I've been trying to avoid all this while!!

Since it was my first visit, I wanted to try it 'cause it sounded different. As it turns out, the otah isn't exactly made of salmon. Right there in the middle - that pale ring of meat - nests the salmon. It was a little disappointing, as I was hoping to taste the salmon in the whole piece. As someone who really likes her otah piping hot and really smokey in flavour, this dish delivered the former but not the latter :(

Was introduced to this place last week - an eat-in dining experience by Old Chang Kee - and had the dry laksa which wasn't too bad. I love my Katong Laksa but this one satisfied the laksa craving in me too. The gravy had a great consistency - neither to dry nor thin, and more importantly, tasted like laksa and not some gravy which left me confused about my order, hehh:)

The one person I know who would willingly eat this (and whom I would willingly eat this with) says this was good - not too salty, yet not bland. Inspite of the fact that I was mildly salivating upon catching the waft of fragrance made up of cumin and mala spices when our pot was served, none of that aroma translated into flavour for me. Still, this probably won't be the last time we'll be having our 香辣锅-fix I presume, and we'll be trying out other places for sure.

The best kind of dinner is one where you're treated to good food! The prawns were mmmmmmmmffff~ delicious!

A highly viscose, sweetened sauce made this dish for me. (But it wasn't hot when served...) The pork was alright - not as tender as I had likedhopedexpected. Took one of those crispy bits before I realised it was lard. To be honest, lard fried like this looks uber delicious but I couldn't bring myself to take a second helping :x

This week's lunch.

The highest-priced item on Kilo's menu fell short at the sight of beef SLICES on its serving plate :( on the whole it was done pretty well - the red wine and coffee-infused sauce provided an interesting flavour and the beef went well with the garlic and herb butter. Quinoa, arugula and cherry tomatoes were served on the side too, if you like that sort of thing. I know I do :)

Gosh I wish they served this in bigger portions because the squid ink sauce was delicious! It was great but certainly not enough!!

I called this 'calamari' because I was being lazy and was corrected by the waiter who repeated its name while taking my order. So ok, this was really baby squid (haha), deep fried in a delicious crispy batter. Better on its own without the sesame mayo and smokey chipotle sauce imo :)

Found the food priced at Kilo a little expensive for the amount of food served. Price aside, this raw seafood ceviche whet our appetites with it's acidity (not overpowering), raw garlic bits (which more often than not warrants a positive review because gosh, I love garlic?), cilantro and other what have you-s in a ceviche sauce so yummy you'd wish this plate was longer with more sashimi heheheh

Back at Paul's (after a loooong time) and ordered a citron tart again. Still yummy :)
