Afternoon tea is served in a picnic basket within a lush oasis to the delightful chirping of birds.
Great to see a vast improvement compared to the set we had last year. Retaining the botanical theme, it is a nice selection of sweet and savoury bites which are enlivened with herbs, edible flowers and vegetables freshly picked from their Urban Farm.

The riveting visual that transport us to the beach is soon followed by first course, Gyeojache. Made of fresh tuna and cuttlefish sashimi served with lemon mustard dressing, avocado cream, and vegetable crunch, it whet your appetite for the next dish.
Episode 3 at NAE:UM (neh-uhm), Chef Louis Han took us on a “road trip” to the Korea peninsula coastal line. Inspired by the flavours of the sea, the eight-course meal begin with a beautiful starter platter - honghab (mussel), songeo (trout), saewoo kkang (shrimp) and aljjim (egg) - completed with corals and mini crabs.
Special Bento, $29.80, which comprises nine of the chef’s recommended side dishes, including assorted sashimi flown in fresh from Japan, the signature sen-ryo tamagoyaki, tofu in goma sauce, ebi tempura and tako karaage. Plus they have warabi mochi too. This set comes with rice and miso soup, so it’s really value for money.

And to celebrate this joyous occasion they have launched special dishes along with new set lunch offerings on 19 April 2022.
There’s the Salmon Shioyaki Set ($26.80), a generous slice of salt-and-pepper marinated salmon or sen-ryo Kushiyaki Set ($20.80), a delightful platter of five types of skewer.
Shown here is the healthier yet luxe Madai Ochazuke Set ($19.80), which comes with a pot of Japanese green tea broth. A generous bowl of rice topped with sliced sea bream, bonito flakes, radish and leek.
Was there for the Kurobuta Mee Hoon Kway which was sadly out of stock. So we had their Signature All-in Mee Hoon Kway ($5.50), which is packed with ingredients like minced pork, sliced pork, handmade meatballs and topped with ikan bilis.
The noodles have a more chewy bite and despite having a soup version, there was a pleasant hint of smokiness which elevate the flavours.
ありがと from East Coast. A new addition to the busy Job Chiat is Hello Arigato, known for their Japanese Milk Bread Sandos.
Then there’s classic Tamago Sando ($14). Sandwich between the Japanese milk bread is the creamy Japanese Egg Mayo, tamagoyaki and an enticing flowy Ajitama egg.

Joo Chiat outlet exclusive is the HCG Sando ($15) with succulent chicken and obvious but not overpowering prawn-paste flavour.
A lemak bowl of Lobster Laksa ($34) filled with thick umami gravy with a sweetness from the prawn stock base.
Each bowl is topped with a whole Boston lobster claw, tau pok or tofu puffs, fish cake slices, bean sprouts, quails’ eggs and a sprinkling of finely-chopped daun kesum, or laksa leaves. So good we polished it off in no time.
Classically French, Vol-au-vent ($58) might be heavy but an outstanding dish that Chef Julien’s mama will whip out on special occasions too!
Cut into the layers of wispy puff pastry filled with sweetbread, morels, cockscomb, and chicken quenelle. Covered in a rich velvety mushroom sauce and reduced with a touch of cream and Cognac, you’ll keep going for seconds.
Local favourite Crab Bee Hoon which was strongly recommended by the staff. Made of thin vermicelli (aka bee hoon) and chunks of fresh crab meat in a rich gravy, it is mouthwatering good.
A myriad of local delights. at Ginger. The popular halal-certified buffet restaurant has launched a refreshed àla carte and affordable lunch set.
New on the menu include Hainanese Chicken Chop, a boneless chicken chop marinated with Chef’s special sauce. Huge enough for two. It is served with a side of fries, baked beans, coleslaw and garlic bread.
Another will be the delicious Popiah with Bamboo Shoots & Ayam Penyet Crust ($12). Comes in two, the thin paper-like crepe is stuffed with bamboo shoots, turnip and soft boiled eggs. Topped with Ayam penyet crust, garlic, chilli, coriander, peanuts and sweet sauce.
