Salted egg chicken, black pepper fish, French beans. It was closing time and everything was cold lol.

The meicai pork was not bad, while the ladyfingers were really unique. They add in some sauce which really amps the umami and the smokiness compared to your ubiquitous versions

I ordered fried fish, coffee pork, tomato egg and spinach. Aside from the inevitable oiliness, I enjoyed this plate of cai fan very much! This is one of my favourite cai fan stalls in Singapore, as portions never fail to be generous and food is reasonably tasty.

Mixed veg rice ($3.20)

Ordered French beans, tomato egg and sweet and sour pork. Sweet and sour pork really stood out.. came with lots of pineapples and cucumbers as well.

Worth the price. But go before 7pm for more choices. Dishes get lesser after that.

Charsiew rice ($4)

Char siew was roasted nicely with a good char and taste. Texture wise was good and also substantial amount of meat given.

Will definitely eat this often!

Charsiew wanton noodles ($5)

Noodles were cooked al dente with not excessive eggy taste. Wantons were plump with real prawns inside. Charsiew was grilled nicely charred with good amount of fats.. sweet with honey on the outside.

Good eat!! New nice stall.

Not a fan of Duck Rice, but this was really good. The rice had a mild herbal flavour and the duck was tender. Got the Braised Duck Rice ($4). Portions were generous. The roasted duck was sold out at 6pm though!

Just imagine kway teow doused in a flavourful sweet gravy with a savoury herbal note 😊 I opted for their braised duck leg which consisted of tender and succulent slices of duck meat. For the full experience, toss it together with the fried scallions, beansprouts and chilli for a velvety and crunchy experience.
.
My only gripe was that the kway teow has a slight alkaline taste πŸ˜‚ Would have enjoyed it more if they used a thinner version of kway teow used normally in Ipoh hor fun!

The popiah is packed full of ingredients including bean sprouts, cucumbers, lettuce, peanuts, turnips, carrots, crispy rice bits. The turnips are juicy and well-seasoned. Auntie uses two pieces of popiah skin to hold the ingredients in place. However, it’s not too thick. The crispy rice bits are the highlight that adds a crunch to every bite.

are in its kopitiams. Nothing rivals these dishes prepared with a lot of dedication. ($4) also, the bakkuteh-ish herbal soup is well brewed, I had to finish it all.

Auntie Kim's Popiah at Bishan ($1.50 per roll) 🌯

I ordered two rolls of popiah, one with and one without chilli. The one with chilli was tastier and much more flavourful! πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ Garlic was added into each roll of popiah as well, which resulted in a strong garlic taste that I find rather peculiar, but I still enjoyed the two rolls anyway πŸ˜‹

PROS 😺
- generous amount of fillings, especially the peanuts and turnips
- the popiah skin was not too thick, yet it could hold the fillings together to prevent them from falling out easily
- the texture was amazingly on point - both the crunchy fritters and beansprouts contributed to the crunchiness of the popiah, which comeplenented really well with its chewy skin
- affordably priced at $1.50 per roll
- the stall owner was pretty friendly

CONS 😾
- the size of this popiah was smaller/shorter compared to other popiah(s) out there

overall rating: 8.5/10 πŸ€—

& I'm not even kidding about it. Although it looks pretty normal like any other boiled chicken, it's skin is so soft you can easily slurp it down & the meat, omg, the meat is insanely tender! Pair it with their garlic chilli & their fragrant rice, you've got yourself a really good meal!
One thing to note is that you guys gotta head down early if you wanna have your hands on this chicken rice! The queue gets really long, but it moves fairly quickly.

My favorite go-to / comfort food when I can't really decide what to eat! I always go for the dry version cause it comes with bar chor (minced meat) & sometimes if the aunty is happy, she'll give me more! That aside, the assortments of tofu & fish meats in the soup is just right!

First & Foremost - Happy New Year Everyone!!

After hearing/reading some raving reviews for this chicken rice stall, decided to try it out today since its half day work :)

Stall outlook - decent to stale looking. Chicken wasn't hanged up like any other stall instead, chopped up in pieces and placed in container, supposedly filled with ice water. People that tend to look at food before deciding to try out most likely will skipped, if not for the long queue. 1/10

Food:
Chicken - Just average to my opinion and its cold, yes cold. Probably trying to imitate Boon Tong Kee, good try but apparently taste wise isn't as good as those reviews out there. Maybe its end of year standard drop haha. Anyway, chicken was way too cold, fats is frozen up(healthy user skip this part), did not compliment the chicken taste at all. My take 4/10. My partner who is very hungry gave an even lower score though.

Rice - slight chicken taste, but just very slight. Doesn't have much aroma to taste either. 4/10

Chilli - strong powerful chilli with slight sourish. Good to dip a little over chicken but if whole piece is dipped in, it overpowered both rice and chicken. Still good nonetheless, but not with this dish. 6/10

Soup - plain at sight. Taste is sour, presumed to have tomato added in for condiments. 6/10

Plus point - food wasn't that oily, healthy foodie can give a try for a filling stomach.

Overall - not that magnificient as the reviews claimed. Not worth the 20mins queue. 3/10

Price - Ate at scene. Bought 2 plates of chicken rice for 2 person @ $7. For hawker fare, affordable price, for great chicken rice session, not even close.

P/s: Have tried better chicken rice elsewhere like Gombak(will give a review the next time I'm there) that cost me cheaper, tastier memories and plenty of free θ±†θŠ½ if consumed on-site.

My fav 高記 yong tow foo! Used to eat this very often when I was living in Yishun ~
