It was the year 1970 when Kang moved to Singapore. Missing the food from his beloved hometown Ipoh, he decided to start a restaurant. After careful consideration, he opened Yee Cheong Yuen Noodle Restaurant in the corner of Holland Village after setting his eyes on the quaint shop house. Soon after, crowds began to gather to eat Kang's Ipoh Hor Fun and Silky Chicken. Day and night, long queues would line the restaurant as customers would be patiently waiting to enjoy Yee Cheong Yuen's originally prepared, finest Ipoh inspired noodle selections. For nearly two decades, Yee Cheong Yuen Noodle Restaurant has been managed by Palm Beach Seafood Restaurant, one of Singapore's local heritage food brands. The authenticity of Yee Cheong Yuen's dishes has been preserved by simply using original and fresh ingredients through our time-tested recipes.

Crunchy every bite.
Sprinkled with deep fried garlic bits.
Something to balance the meats of course.
Yummy item.

Their signature hor fun with silky chicken and wanton soup on the side, and comes with a drink of your choice (got the hot barley which tasted really fresh!) - the hor fun was average, chicken was nicely tender but the soup tasted strange (although the minced meat in the wanton tasted fine). Pretty average and decent meal for its price, but have tasted better elsewhere at a better price.

Decided to try out this place for a change from Crystal Jade Kitchen at the corner. The best thing is the excellent service - fast and friendly. The noodle in my noodle soup is overcooked, and the broth too bland. A neighbouring table had clay pot rice. It's not fragrant, and there's no sign of the crispy charred rice, looks like it's not as good as the excellent version at New Lucky at nearby Holland Drive. Edible, but the food at many hawker stalls would be much better than this!

I’m not very impressed with the food here because it always feels like the food is pre made and it’s a matter of assembling it together and the food usually comes lukewarm:/
