Kang’s Wanton Noodle (Zion Riverside Food Centre)

The noodles were p springy, somewhat like those HK style crystal noodles but not as thin. They were dressed in a light but savoury-sweet sauce, with either shallots/garlic that makes it quite fragrant and tasty.

Char siew is quite sweet, lean but not rly dry, somewhat a bit like bak kwa? But not as hard. Was better than expected because visually it was too brightly red for my liking.

Wanton soup is quite nice, had that comforting, classic wanton soup taste. Wanton skins were slippery smooth, but filling was ok, not particularly flavourful. The fried wanton was v crunchy, preferred this!

Overall I quite liked it and would revisit/recommend :)

Recently re-named Kang's Wanton Mee (don't be confused with Chef Kang's Wanton Mee)

Kang's Wanton mee is rather springy and lightly sauced. The chilli had a good kick to it and the Wanton were rather big, almost like dumpling size already.

Char siew had slightly charred edges and was relatively tasty too.

Spring noodles and good spicy sauce. Crispy deep fried wanton tasted so good!

Wanton noodles small ($3.50). Comes with 2 boiled wanton and 2 fried wanton. Noodles is just nicely cooked and chilli complements the noodles.

Although I am a creature of habit when it comes to "wantan mee" and have the few regular places that I frequent, I decided to try "Xin Fei Fei" as it's one of the few stalls open in the morning at Zion Road Hawker Centre.
I was initially under the impression that this was linked to the "Fei Fei Wantan Mee" at Joo Chiat and expected a similar taste. It was not the case.
The noodles here are less floury, with a much springier bite, and the chilli sambal used was a bit spicier than others. For $3.50, which is the smallest serving available, I got four large dumplings - two, deepfried, and the other two, boiled and floating in the bowl of soup. I have to say, they are what I liked most about the dish.

Won Ton Mee ($4). Both fried and boiled wonton are served. Which makes it a plus point. The noodles are springy and the sauce given coats the noodles evenly.
