Taking on the mantle from her father, young hawker Lois Er's nasi lemak stall at Old Airport Road Food Centre is good enough that it deserves a second look before you decide to join any one of the many snaking queues in front of more established stalls in this foodie paradise.

Choose from 4 types of nasi lemak sets, each with a different protein, ranging fom sausage to chicken wing, chicken cutlet and chicken drumstick. I got Set D which comes with a huge drumstick. The batter is house-made and smashingly crispy, coating juicy, piping hot meat within the freshly-fried chicken leg. Every set comes with ikan bilis, a molten fried egg and sambal, the crucial component that can make or break a nasi lemak. Wonderfull's is well-balanced, with good levels of sweetness and spiciness. Quite sedap when mixed through the fluffy, coconut-y warm rice. I added on otah ($1.2), which was quite nice too.

Set B which comprises a chicken wing, peanuts and anchovies, choice of scrambled or sunny side egg, sambal chilli and fragrant rice.

Decent nasi lemak; never had mind-blowing good kind of nasi lemak so I've never been excited about this dish. All the ingredients were all consistently good, making for a great choice if you're a nasi lemak fan.

Chicken Wing Nasi Lemak Set ($3.50)

Old airport road hawker centre is really one of the best hawker centres to visit since they have very credible vendors running the stalls serving a whole myriad of local dishes. This nasi lemak from @wonderfull.nasilemak is yet another stall serving decent local food, nasi lemak. I love how the ikan bilis and the peanuts are not mixed beforehand since some people like myself prefers just ikan bilis! Best thing on this plate is the chicken wing. Crispy skin and juicy flesh is always a winning combi!

Wanted to add on an otah but was pleasantly surprised that they are currently running a 2-week promotion of giving away a piece of mackerel otah (u.p. $1.20) for every plate of nasi lemak ordered. "Tell your friends!" they said. The least I could do was spread the love ❤️ and generosity😂! Also available are the boneless chicken chop and the chicken drumstick 🍗 sets!

From Wonderfull Nasi Lemak; a relatively new stall at Old Airport Food Centre that had recently switched its operating hours to serve the lunch crowd. Was actually rather impressed with the Nasi Lemak here — it lacks that whole commercial feel that is synonymous with the names often associated with the Chinese-variant of Nasi Lemak. Here, expect 4 different sets on the menu, with the flexibility of choosing omelette or sunny side up for egg and ikan bilis or vegetables — the Otah was an additional item I ordered at extra cost. It feels like a lot of attention has been placed into the different elements; chicken wing lightly battered while still served warm and crisp; very juicy inside, sunny side-up served with a runny egg yolk and crisp Ikan Bilis and the Otah was smooth and soft with adequate moisture. The sambal gives everything a moderately spicy level of heat balanced with a good amount of sweetness, but could probably do better without the limp and soft ikan bilis within that seemed to have lost its crispiness after being aired out for too long. Overall not a bad choice, and perhaps something I might consider eating again in the food centre (because it's just too difficult not to try the large variety of good food at this hawker centre!)
