Soup was really nice and intense but the serving of fish was little for a medium size order compared to tian wai tian
These juicy morsels of meat were a delight.
Crisp on the outside and moist on the inside
However , prices are expensive .
One bow of rice costs 1.20 .😔
Undoubtedly good soup but the fish slices were so little and tiny - for 55 dollars I wouldn’t think that this was value for money .
The fish slices were oddly shaped and most were bony without much flesh.
For this same price , you’d probably get fresher fish and double the quantity at Tian Wai Tian .
As usual, yummy soup w generous portion of fish. This round we realised they also served fish roe so of course a must order!!!!🎉😱

🍽 FUD FOR THE TUMMY
• Whampoa Keng Signature Fish Head Steamboat - Red Garoupa ($40)
• Fish Roe ($7)
The sweet and spicy sambal lala (clams) definitely made a good companion to the umami fishhead soup. Could not stop slathering the sauce over steaming white rice and eating it with the fresh and tender clam flesh.
Definitely one of the better marmite dishes I've tried and an umami bomb for sure. The sweet & saltiness of the marmite made me want more with each bite. The chicken bits were also deep fried to crunchy perfection and with the sauce was 😱
Loved the crunchy dou miao (pea shoots)! The generous sprinkling of fried garlic over the dish made it extremely fragrant as well.
Dinner on Saturday night was this hot steaming pot of really fresh & sweet pomfret simmering over a charcoal fire. The soup was umami thanks to the salted fish, herbs and sour plum in it, and chock full of vegetables and yam.
This has become our canteen as our folks love the sweet herbal broth from a traditional charcoal steamboat!
Must orders include:
- Pigs trotter (stewed in gravy so gelatinous and tender)
- Hei Zo (love all the water chestnut bits that made it so crunchy)
For trusty fish steamboat always. Call to make reservations especially on weekends.
We tried the batang before which was good and this time we decided to try the red grouper which really brought out the sweetness of the soup. The fish portions were generous and the zi char dishes are also pretty good!
This has become our weekend dinner venue.
happiness in a (steam)boat. charcoal fired steamboat provided much rustic charm and taste with chunks of fried solefish and yam sticks making the soup extra uber flavorful. dad even picked up tang gui (cordyceps) in the soup! even though we opted for the relatively common batang, it was highly enjoyable - firmness in every bite attest to the fish's freshness and fish servings were really generous. little wonder this ever popular restaurant is always full house most of the time. be sure to order a serving of their "排骨王” as well.
We were surprised to see so many people having steamboat for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. It shows how good and popular the restaurant.
We had the boneless bardan sliced fish steamboat (from $30-60 depending on the size of the pot), and it was so good. There was a generous amount of fish slices, yam and vegetables. The fragrant soup is also refillable.
We'd also recommend their prawn paste chicken!
It's no surprise their premises are packed at dinnertime - their soup is full of body and flavour.
😍😋👍🏼

Especially on a wet day like today, I just can't resist having this with a hotpot of fish soup! MerRyan loves seafood and this dish is perfect! #sambal #samballala #merlion #merryansg #burpple #singapore
Had the special set and all in the total damage was slightly under $140 (4 pax, including all the additional surcharges) for a load of food. The red garoupa fish head soup was sweet and chock full with ingredients and veges. Heard a lot about msg but actually I didn't really taste it at all. The zichar dishes were also well executed, and I liked the cereal prawn and claypot chicken that came with the set. The food may be a bit on the sweet side for some. Ended the meal with mango pudding and herbal jelly, which I saw were being made in-house.
