Ordered the special beef pho, flavourful broth with generous ingredients. Love the blend of refreshing herbs, hoisin sauce and chili. Nicely cooked beef shank! Definitely will be back for more and to try their banh mi.
Prepare to wait during meal times as thereās a queue.
The banh mi was crispy but the ratio was very off, so can't really taste the ckn enough
Barely passable overall, get the pho
Delicious. Beef slices were alright, beef shank was not too bad, but beef balls were quite lousy. Not v umami and not v bouncy
The broth is sick tho, it's got depth and a strong fragrance from the star anise. Quite salty tho, but one of the most powerful pho broths I've had, u can tell from the cloudy soup(even if it's not necessarily authentic)
Hidden gem in the West serving affordable and decent Vietnamese fare (think pho and banh mi from $4) in a hawker centre.
The cloudy soup broth was tasty with strong extraction of beef flavours. Would suit those who enjoy richer soups, although personal preference would be for more fresh greens and herbs to balance the sweetness and saltiness. The pho noodles were on the softer side.
Went with the special beef pho which included beef slices, beef flank, and two beef balls. The beef slices were over cooked and tough despite us removing them from the hot soup shortly after being served (would probably opt for the medium rare beef pho next time), but enjoyed the tender beef flank and juicy meatballs.
Not the best but highly worth it at this price point! Will be back āŗļø
šViet Corner
Stumbled upon this Vietnamese stall hidden in a Bukit Batok coffee shop which serves pretty legit Vietnamese cuisine. The first time we passed by, they were already sold out for quite a few iconic items on the menu. The second time we came by, we were told to wait for about 30 mins for a bowl of Bun Thit Nuong even though the coffeeshop wasnāt packed and there was no queue at the stall. Guess the popularity was a result of food delivery.
Bun Thit Nuong, or Rice vermicelli noodle with grilled pork, is somewhat similar to its Northern Vietnam counterpart Bun Cha, except that the grilled pork shoulder slices are served in the bowl of rice vermicelli noodle and separated from the sauce which is drizzled atop just like what we did. The pork shoulder slices were grilled till tender with a nice char, and usually known to be marinated in lemongrass, shallot, fish sauce, garlic, sugar and paprika to give a caramelic flavour. I especially enjoyed the sweet glaze on the pork. Drizzling of the sweet and sour sauce helped to cut through the meatās greasiness. Thereās also cut chili, chopped peanuts, shallots, fresh sliced cucumber and carrots to enhance the flavour of this hearty bowl of rice vermicelli.
Owner wasnāt really friendly but itās worth the trip to seek for some authentic Vietnamese food. Do be prepared for the long wait.
Lady boss is pretty, always full of smiles and generous with Ingredients š
