Can be added into butter for additional fee lol but I prefer to be a bit plain bun tbh.

($4.50) It's quite ex pricing for premium bo lo bun but it's interesting flavour to see from. I didn't have time to reheat but it's best to reheat for achieving lava effect next time. But the chocolate filling was quite enough for me, it's a bit sweet and milky for me.

($2.60) I got struggle to decide which egg tart especially got for two version tbh. I decided to get something different from usual ones. So the cookie skin was quite crispy and crunchy tbh but the egg tart was quite sweet tbh. It's best to pair well with black tea instead.

felt that less zest could have been infused into the filling. the cheese was so sour and left a weird feeling on my tongue

2023 has just barely started and it seems that quite a number of new F&B establishments had already opened its doors before the long weekend comes to an end โ€” this would include the opening of Victoria Bakery, which adds on to the list of new F&B tenants such as the likes of Oh My Cow! and Betsubara that had recently opened up at Marina Square. Being located around the same area as Betsubara in the shopping mall, Victoria Bakery is a new bakery-cum-cafe concept similar to our local neighbourhood bakeries with a dine-in concept. Taking up quite a decent space for its store, the store is being split into two distinct sections; the right side being taken up by display cases which patrons can help themselves to containing the different breads / danishes available for the day, while the left side would be the space dedicated to the dine-in seating for patrons who intend to have the baked goods on the spot. The entire space is decked in a rather rustic vibe โ€” there are red bricks as well as wooden accents that can be found in the furniture and fittings of the dining establishment; the tables featuring a marble-esque table top while the dining chairs coming in a mix of rattan and wooden elements for a โ€œcolonialโ€ look. Being a Hong Kong-style bakery, Victoria Bakery serves up quite a good variety of Bo Lo Bun and different tarts (think various forms of egg tart featuring different pastry bases, coconut tart and cheese tart) โ€” that being said, do expect a decent selection of savoury buns such as that of the Meat Floss Bun, as well as danishes such as the Danish Ham & Cheese as well. For those looking for beverages to go along with their bread, Victoria Bakery does offer a variety of coffee, tea and others (i.e. Bluberry Virgin Mojito, Homemade Sparkling Lemonade etc.) for patrons to pair with their bread and bakes.

After browsing through the selection of breads and other bakes which they have to offer, we found ourselves opting for one bread and one tart that they have on display on the day of our visit. Between the various tarts that Victoria Bakery has to offer, we went for the HK Egg Tart. It is noted that Victoria Bakery does serve up more than a single variety of the egg tart; apart from the HK Egg Tart, Victoria Bakery also serves up a Cookie Crust Egg Tart as well โ€” this is much similar to what other establishments such as Joy Luck Teahouse have to offer as well. Sinking our teeth straight into the HK Egg Tart, it is noted that the HK Egg Tart does come with a flaky pastry that is akin to puff pastry here โ€” something we noticed about the pastry of the HK Egg Tart was how it was seemingly light and flaky, yet held up very well against the bites that we have taken whilst holding up all that egg curd above it; we also felt that it was pretty intricate given how the pastry shell is fairly thin here which gave it a good texture. The egg curd filled within was sufficiently eggy, yet not being overly sweetened โ€” carried a good balance against the pastry shell and had a jiggly consistency; we also liked how it was being served still warm despite us only dropping by Victoria Bakery only in the mid-afternoon. Whilst perhaps not being the best egg tart out there, we did feel that the rendition served up at Victoria Bakery would likely set off a good impression with those who find their HK Egg Tart something which they fancy.

Having tried both their Char Siew Bo Lo Bun and their HK Egg Tart, we would say that one should not bear high expectations when it comes to dining at Victoria Bakery โ€” while we did feel that their breads do come at a decent quality, the offerings at Victoria Bakery perhaps like closer to that of what other brands such as Crystal Jade My Bread or So Good Bakery has to offer. This means that the quality of the buns offered at Victoria Bakery may be a touch higher than that which are sold at the mom-and-pop bakeries in the neighbourhood, but they are still pretty much commercially-made bread similar to the likes of the bread sold at Four Leaves / BreadTalk at heart. The Char Siew Bo Lo Bun being a prime example of this; the Bo Lo bun comes with quite a tasty crusty layer over the top that provided a hint of sweetness, all that with a pillowy soft for its base that is pretty much akin to that of commercially-made breads around. The Char Siew filling was also probably close to the quality of fillings in the bread from Crystal Jade My Bread or So Good Bakery, and that the entire package was certainly not quite as close to what is offered by more artisanal brand names like Champion Bolo Bun. That being said, Victoria Bakery is probably that sort of spot that appeals to the common folk; the average commercial bakery retailing bread with a dine-in element for shoppers to grab a light bite within the mall with a cuppa at hand โ€” a spot is pretty relatable and likely to gain traction as more curious folks chance upon them whilst going about in Marina Square.
