The lows accentuate the highs and all that, yknow? And it's in that spirit that I'd like to thank TR Flame Grill for helping me reset my tastebuds and expectations after several months of near-constant fantastic food. The onion rings were alright - also, yuge - and the fried chicken on the soggy waffles was quite tasty albeit tough and stringy. That aside... it's hard to find anything positive to say about the meal.

I guess diner food never really NEEDS to be great. It's more of the atmosphere that you soak in. It's the halfway house open in the god forsaken hours of the late night / early day that you stop by in the midst of the road trip in your friend's insurance-less car; it's the spot you go to for burnt coffee bitter enough to wash out the hangover; it's the place that pops up in shows like Fargo and Riverdale as the central meeting ground that grounds the place in human interaction rather than quality of cuisine. Or, in the case of TR Flame Grill (is it flame grill or fire grill? Not that it matters), it's an attempt to ride on the coatwaves of the diner charm and "elevate" the food. Elevate the prices, sure. The food is shite. Went in with low expectations and was pleasantly vindicated.
