I’ve known about Tok Tok for years now. I can’t quite say why it took me so long to visit; but I guess it was the combination of Indonesian friends swearing by them for 10/10 authentic Indonesian grub + the complete inability to visit Bali, that finally got me there. And might I say I was disappointed in myself for not having gone there sooner? This Nasi Campur was everything I remember of Bali: fragrant hot rice, a sweet crunchy kicap manis-ridden tempeh, a rich tender rendang, and tons of other tasty af components — served with a fucking punchy sambal on the side. FYI they make a fucking solid teh susu like yo I couldn’t stop reaching for the damn straw.

I was looking forward to this as we miss bali a lot! Love how they serve their food on bamboo plate/brown paper. I was utterly disappointed to see the food we ordered came in disposable ware which made the food more like hawker takeout. They seriously need to do something about this and please do not use Covid as an excuse. Food was just alright but on the salty side.

Tok Tok is famous for their Indonesian food and they have a few outlets across the country, with one outlet at Ang Siang Hill.

Nasi Campur Bali attracted me with all the colourful items on it. Expect items like sliced dried beef tossed with sambal, Balinese style beef rendang, sambal shredded chicken, beef skewers with sambal, Balinese style stir fry long bean, sweet and spicy fried tempeh and egg tossed with sambal. Yes that’s all the items on one bowl. Definitely worth it with only $9.90!

Be prepared to challenge with the sambal spiciness here and also all the dry meats here.

Such a discovery! really enjoyed their nasi sets as well as the satay. Super big portions for less than S$10 makes for a great, filling lunch.

Mini platter of goodness @toktoksg featuring balinese style beef rendang, sambal shredded chicken, sliced beef tossed with sambal, egg tossed with belado sambal, sweet and spicy fried tempeh, stirfried long beans, and beef skewer. Superb value and don’t forget about the sambal chilli and sweet chilli available freeflow. Only issue with this place is its slow moving queue so try to beat the lunch crowd and the meal will be perfect!

Our original lunch destination was closed, but doesn’t matter when Tok Tok was nearby and super yummy! This mix of dishes on a plate will satisfy those who need a little variety in life; with beef rendang (my fav), sambal shredded chicken, egg, tempeh and more, you’ll get something a little different in every mouth.

They’re really popular though and a little slow with the service, so do budget some time for lunch. Make sure you come with backup to get seats while you queue!
