On this chilly day, one can find comfort in a bowl of good HK congee. And other tasty dimsum
Run by a chef who moved all the way from Hong Kong, this stall serves restaurant quality with hawker price! [Not to mention everything you eat would be freshly made that day itself]
Thanks to @Burpple, on yesterday's #TastyTastemakerTour we also learnt that back in HK, one of the way to test if a congee is in the right density is to mix everything and see if it can hold the spoon straight up -- while it still taste like a congee, of course ๐ Check out my stories if you're not sure what am i talking about
Now if you know me long enough -- I'm not a congee person. I mean i can eat one, but it won't be my 1st choice. Yet i can say this one was naizzzz! ๐
Another must try(s) are their siew may, and dumplings. So good i'll definitely come back for more. Ps. Come early cause they're breakfast-lunch kinda place. ๐ #Burpple

This is a gem - Chef Lam Kun and his old school tim sum! Affectionately known as ๆ นๅ, he was the head chef of a prominent restaurant before starting this humble stall. His passion drives him to insist on traditional but tedious way of cooking (eg, frying raw rice for >1hr till it's cooked as glutinous rice)

Yam cake should be i) soft, ii) moist, yet iii) flavourful, and this hits all three. The winning consistency was dense, but mushy and light. Gen Shu has many other gems not featured here - glutinous rice, dumplings, siew mai, and the thick but translucent congee.. I love that congee too, on my!

Opened by an uncle and aunt. The uncle cooked the noodle and the aunt wrapped the dumpling and collected the order.
The portion was rather small but it only cost S$2.50 to S$3. The noodle was springy and the wanton had a hint of fried sole fish taste.
