Opened in June 2000 by Thomas Wong and Shirley Soh, this chill cafe is a great space to read and reflect.
.
Their rendition is topped with fluffy soft marshmallows, while the drinking chocolate has a milky thin texture rather like the Australian style, and chocolatey milky sweet flavour.

The frothy foam head is the largest yet.

Since June 2000, this quiet cafe has been delighting those in the know - serving as an "alternate living room", suitable for reading, meetings, gaming, grazing, or catching up with family or friends.
.
As many have claimed; there is a lot to like about this place. Ambience is cozy, classy, and comfortable. Service is friendly, professional, and caring. Food is well-executed, delicious, and reasonably priced.
.
Here, 3 free-range eggs were folded with my choice of ham and tomato. The egg omelette is fluffy and tender and juicy, with pleasant eggy savoury salty sweet flavour.
.
Served with crisp toasted buttered white bread with smoky bready buttery savoury sweet flavour, and juicy grilled cherry tomatoes which are nicely smoky vegetal sweet in taste.
.
Loved the crisp potato rosti, which held starchy salty savoury sweet flavour, yum.

Battered Tilapia Fish and Chips with a strawberry banana smoothie. The fish was fresh and the fries were tasty though I felt that the crust of the fish could have been softer. Service was great and ambiance is excellent as always
Excellent ambience for reading or working on something. Order their flat white, it was simple and good cuppa. Personally, find it to be on the nutty side, mellow, not too bitter or acidic.
This is one of their weekend specials, the Emmental. It's supposed to have emmental cheese, but honestly I didn't taste any? 😅 The omelette is stuffed with a piece of lean bacon, and comes with two slices of toast (I chose multi grain). Its served with a salad of pico de gallo, sour cream and smashed avocado.
I love the omelette. Super fluffy and perfectly seasoned. The egg is just set inside but still slightly oozy. So simply done but well-executed. And the flavors of the slightly spicy pico de gallo with the tanginess of the sour cream. They make excellent coffee and juices too.
The ambience is really chill, with choice of either sitting on the squishy sofa or table and there's excellent wifi. It's just fuss-free food with good coffee. Just not sure if the food is worth the price ($19.95 for this plate), but my dining partner seems to really like this place, so I always end up coming here to enjoy a lazy afternoon.
This is so delicious! The taste was bursting in my mouth. I like they let us choose brown rice or Japanese rice. And yes I choose brown rice. I thought it will be those typical “red rice mix white rice” type. But no, it’s really BROWN RICE. So tasty! It was well mixed. Totally worth the $16!
We chose to sit outdoors as the cafe was waaaaaay too quiet (even public library also noisier lol).
This is the 2nd time I’m back at The Book Cafe for mains, and I can’t help ordering what I had the last time again, simply because it’s very hard to resist a hearty plate of wok hei-infused Kimchi Fried Rice ($16) with chicken, shiitake mushroom and a sunny side up🙆🏻♀️ Love that there is an option of brown rice or Japanese rice too:)! P.S. This is non food related, but The Book Cafe has the comfiest couch ever!
Orchid Vanilla Tea ($8.50) is a new experience for tea lovers. It has a velvety mouthfeel and a soothing taste. It is certainly a must-try if you love vanilla very much - the flavour and aroma really comes through. [9/10]
Chicken and Mango Chutney Sandwich ($16.00) is one of the best sandwiches I ever had. The chicken was very well seasoned and the choice of bun - ciabatta bread was an excellent choice. However, I could not detect much of the mango chutney which was a little disappointing. Aside from that, it is very enjoyable and rather filling to say the least. [6.5/10]
The staff in the cafe are really friendly and extremely helpful. It was a delight to be served by them. [10/10]
If you are looking for the following:
• A place to relax away from the bustling city
• A place to study + free wi-fi
This is the place for you!
Didn’t feel like poached eggs, so the waitress offered to give us the option of scrambled eggs instead 😊 This dish was very well-executed - with the warm toasted fluffy muffins, maple candied bacon, juicy tomatoes, crispy rosti patty and scrambled eggs which were creamy and tasty! Overall taste of this dish was really goood!! 😋
The coffee is not bad and the ambience is pretty good. They have a lot of power sockets available and free wifi so there seemed to be a lot people coming to do their works. Please be minded that they asked you to not work indoor during peak hours, but you can sit outdoor if you want.
No frills easy breakfast from the book cafe. Don't expect wows but you can count on homestyle like meals from this little cafe.
Having read some great reviews and seen this featured on a few different 'Good places to read' lists, I'd been looking forward to coming here and getting on with a book I had picked up. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do as much I had hoped as it was a lot noisier than the reviews had suggested and I didn't get the relaxing and cosy experience I was looking for. The interior however was gorgeous and I enjoyed the tea I ordered (albeit at a steep total price of S$9.40) The food being served to those around me looked great and I would probably try again and go for lunch with a friend rather than a hideaway nook for myself.
I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was juicy and well marinated. The bacon and tomatoes complemented the chicken well and the bacon was not too oily. Fries were also not oily and were crispy with a rich potato taste.
where i get my work done on my laptop, productively. also, coffee and books are pretty therapeutic. p.s: free wifi and power points too
Food was great. Second time here, pasta was awesome. Nice atmosphere with comfortable seats. Would definitely come the third time. Food 4/5 Ambience 4/5
Cozy environment, light hearted pastries, soft cushioned seats, magazines and books displayed for public use
No wow factor, just matter-of-fact and adequate. The omelette here isn't the fluffy sort; it's compact and dense. I have to say I was also expecting it to be bigger since it's made up of three eggs. Of the two types of filling on offer -- ham and tomatoes, or mushroom and cheese -- I chose the former and it was fine. Served alongside with the omelette were slices of white toast, a mini rosti and grilled tomatoes. All in all, a decent enough All Day Breakfast item for the price given the location.
Always a "must order" for me and my friends when we're here. They serve awesome cheesecakes which are not in the menu. Their crumble cheesecake I thought was disappointing, the first I tried was the best but subsequently standard dropped.
