As I was walking along the basement of The Central, this shop appears to be one that has more customers seated inside, so I thought I could give it a try.
Hot and Sour Soup (酸辣湯) is one dish that I enjoy having when I was in Taiwan, and one of the main reasons is because it comprises a good mix of taste and texture. And of course, the Taiwan version will probably have some strings of pig’s blood cake (豬血糕) inside, which we can’t find in Singapore anyway.
Coming back to what I ate here, it’s quite affordably priced at S$6.90 and it comes with a bowl of rice. What surprised me was that I was only expecting a bowl of plain rice, but I was served with a full portion of rice with braised egg, tofu, pickled vegetables and some traces of minced meat.
What I probably did not like about the soup though, is that it’s just plain sour without any bit of spiciness detected. Well, true enough that Din Tai Fung has a non-spicy variant of the soup too, but this one is still far from DTF’s level.
Guess I’m not that impressed.
